Textiles Committee, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, organized a cluster level awareness program on India Handloom Brand IHB) was organized on 30.03.2026, at Venkatagiri. About 65 participants, including master weavers, individual weavers and society members, attended the program. Shri P Ponnuswamy, JI, ROTC Chennai, welcomed the gathering. Shri Vijayanand, Development Officer, DHTO, Tirupati, and Shri Giridhar, Officer on Special Duty (OSD), IIHT, Venkatagiri, addressed the gathering, and delivered the initiatives by the government towards weavers. Smt Loveling Lopez, ROTC Chennai, attended and participated in the registration of the weavers in the program.Shri Sri Ram Gangadhar, Shri A Satyanarayana, Shri Lakshmipathi, leading master weavers of Venkatagiri cluster were present in the meeting.
Shri Karthikeya Sarma, JI, explained the different stages involved in registering with IHB, and the benefits of obtaining the same in Telugu, which was well taken by the weavers. Many weavers were interested to apply for the IHB certificate.
