ನಾನಾಗ ಇನ್ನೂ ಹೈಸ್ಕೂಲ್‌ ನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದೆ ನಮ್ಮಜ್ಜ ಒಂದು ಹೀರೋ SLR ಸೈಕಲ್‌ ಕೊಡಿಸಿದರು. ಆಗ ಅದು ಕೇವಲ 600 ರೂಪಾಯಿ, ತದ ನಂತರ ಸುಮಾರು 1992ರಲ್ಲಿ ಹೀರೋ ಜೆಟ್‌ ಸೈಕಲ್‌ ಕೊಂಡಾಗ 900 ರೂಗಳು.

ಮುಂದೆ ಲೂನ, ಬಜಾಜ್‌ ಚೇತಕ್‌ ಸ್ಕೂಟರ್‌ ಕೈಗೆ ಬಂದ ಮೇಲೇ ಪಳೆಯುಳಿಕೆ ಇಂಧನ ಸುಡುತ್ತ ಯಾವುದೇ ಶ್ರಮ, ಆಯಾಸ, ಸುಸ್ತು ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ತಿರುಗಾಡುವ ಹಂತಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದ ಮೇಲೆ ಸೈಕಲ್‌ ಮೂಲೆಗುಂಪಾಯಿತು. ತದ ನಂತರ ಇದ್ದಿದೊಂದು ಸೈಕಲ್‌ ನಮ್ಮ ಅಂಚೆಯಣ್ಣನಿಗೆ ಕೇವಲ 500 ರೂಗಳಿಗೆ ಮಾರಿದ್ದು ಆಯಿತು.

ಈಗ ಸುಮಾರು 25 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ನಂತರ ಮಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಒಂದು ಸೈಕಲ್‌ ಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಎಂದು ಮೈಸೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂಗಡಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ನೋಡಿದರೆ ಯಾವುದ್ಯಾವುದೋ ಹೊಸ ಹೊಸ ಬ್ರ್ಯಾಂಡುಗಳು, ತರಹೇವಾರಿ ಸೈಕಲ್ಗಳು, ಕನಿಷ್ಠ 7000 ರೂಗಳು, ಸರಿ ಅದರಲ್ಲೇ ಒಂದು ಚೆಂದನೆಯ ಸೈಕಲ್‌ ಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದೆಂದು ತೀರ್ಮಾನಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದೆ.

ಆಗಲೇ ನನ್ನ ಚಾರಣ, ಶಿಲಾರೋಹಣ ಮುಂತಾದ ಶಿಬಿರಗಳಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಮೋನಿಲ್‌ ಶಾ Monil Shah ಜ್ಞಾಪಕ ಬಂದಿದ್ದು, ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಹರ್ಷ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗೋವರ್ಧನ್‌ ಹೋಟೆಲ್‌ ಪಕ್ಕ ಅವರ ದೊಡ್ಡದಾದ ಸೈಕಲ್‌ ಮಳಿಗೆ ಇದೆ, ಅದರೆ ಈಗಾಗಲೆ 20 ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಗೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಸಮಯವಾಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಹೋಗಿ ವಿಚಾರಿಸುವ ಎಂದು ಹೋದರೆ ಮೋನಿಲ್‌ ಬಾಗಿಲಿನ ಬಳಿಯೇ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದ್ದೂ ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ನನ್ನ ಗುರುತಿಸಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿಸಿದಾಗ ಸಂತೋಷ ಹಾಗು ಸಮಾಧಾನ. ಹೀಗೆ ಮಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಸೈಕಲ್‌ ಬೇಕಿತ್ತು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ತರಹೇವಾರಿ ಸೈಕಲ್‌ ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ತಂದಿದ್ದಾಯಿತು.
