VL Himadri (FH 3879): An Early-Maturing Hybrid Maize for Uttarakhand’s Hills

Developed by ICAR-VPKAS through the cross V 495 × V 461, VL Himadri matures in just 90–95 days and recorded an average yield of 4,864 kg/ha—15.21% higher than the check variety VMH 45. It also shows moderate resistance to turcicum and maydis leaf blight and is recommended for timely sowing under organic, rainfed conditions in the hill regions of Uttarakhand.
