"hard work, sweat of the brow, burning bone marrow — all this gives you more sense of pride than the work you actually do!"

hear Dr. Mickey Mehta share a very important message for the youth of today.

here’s Dominic CostaBir, in his own words, on why he chose to be a gigger?
i chose to be an entrepreneur; becoming a gigger was accidental, but the benefits were amazing…
1. freedom and flexibility to choose assignments.
2. gained experience across multiple organisations simultaneously.
3. have fun - i graduated from institute of hotel management (ihm), mumbai (in 1990). i decided i didn’t want a boring full-time job and wanted to get-rich-quick. so, i opted to start dine-a-mite caterers. thanks to the competition, only a few potential clients approached me and even fewer trusted me as i was a novice. in the first year, i got just 6 small orders. how do i survive if i continue in business and stay out of a full-time job? fortunately, a caterer who i’d worked with as a waiter (while at ihm), approached me to manage his caterings part-time. perfect! i could continue my business, gain experience and earn (he paid well). i began doing similar gigs for other caterers. then a lady running annapurna (bulk meals for corporates) offered me a full-time position. i convinced her that i’d work part-time yet deliver full-time results. it got better, i got another gig with an office canteen (vsnl) to upgrade their kitchen, menu, food and team. my gigs with vsnl and annapurna lasted over 11 years – with monthly retainers and increments. simultaneously, i ran dine-a-mite caterers and did several other gigs – consulting for restaurants, selling insurance (in dubai) and training. i remained a gigger for over 12 years before quitting to start hospitality training institute (HTI) in 2002. life has come a full circle —from starting as a gigger, to founding 'CoLaBoRate' — an app to help giggers earn, learn and experience freedom, flexibility and fun!

let’s play the game: ā€œwould you rather…?ā€

if born a tiger šŸ… would you rather be born in a zoo or the jungle?

hmmmm, we know what most of y’all are thinking (we ran a poll with this questionšŸ‘†šŸ»).
let’s think again…

in a zoo, you’ll never have to worry about the basic necessities; you’ll get your food and shelter.

in fact, in a zoo, life seems way better! well, for starters, you have a doctor on callšŸ‘©šŸ¼ā€āš•ļø let’s not forget, you don’t have to worry about defending your territory!

ask yourself again: why the jungle? ā€œfreedomā€ — screams the little child inside of us!

we agree, nothing is worth more than your ā€œfreedom & flexibility to chooseā€ā€¦

no amount of food, no amount of safety or security trumps the satisfaction we get from having the ā€œfreedom & flexibility to choose!ā€

yet, it comes at a cost!
a cost that not all of us are willing to pay! where you must prove yourself every day, go out and hunt every day…

no matter how strong, how powerful, how experienced or how many kills the tiger has, no deer 🦌 no zebra šŸ¦“ no gaur (forest bull) 🦬 comes up to the tiger and drops themselves in front of the tiger because of how great the tiger ā€œwasā€.

this freedom comes at the cost of having to give up the feeling of ā€œentitlementā€ and having to ā€œprove yourself everydayā€.

so, risky? for sure! worth it? let us know (in the comments)…

shoutout to (this post is a spin off from one of the amazing posts they create - do check their page out)
