As part of the COVID-19 relief package named 'Atmanirbhar Bharat,' the definition of MSMEs was changed to reclassify them on the basis of not just investments put in but to include turnover of the company.

Udyam Registration Benefits

Some of the major benefits of Udyam registration certificate in India are discussed below:

1) Loans without collaterals

The Government of India initiated various scheme and reforms to upgrading small-scaled business enterprise through this Udyam certificate, that allows to avail credit without collateral. This is the best Udyam benefits for small scale business owners, as it offers a collateral-free loan that is accepted by the Government of India, Small Industries Development Bank of India, and the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise under the name The Credit Guarantee Trust Fund Scheme.

2) Subsidy on Patent Registration & Industrial Promotion

Small and medium scale business enterprises registered under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, gets a heavy subsidy for patent registration and Industrial promotion.

3) Overdraft facility along with Interest Rate Exemption

Enterprises registered as Udyam under the Ministry of MSME are eligible to get a benefit on the overdraft as part of the Credit Guarantee Trust Fund Scheme. Note: this can vary from bank to bank.

4) ISO Certification Charges Reimbursement

An Udyam registered small-medium enterprise can claim the expenses for reimbursement that were spent on ISO certification.

5) Concession on Electricity

Small businesses registered under the new MSME Udyam registration Portal, they can get some concession on electricity bills.

6) Helps in Getting Government Tenders

Micro, small and medium owners can take part in Government tender auction. They can easily avail exemption while applying for government tenders.

7) Becomes Easy to Get Licenses, Approvals, and Registrations

With this new Udyam registration certificate business owners are eligible to apply for other official certificates, approvals, and registration in India.

8) Get exemption under Direct Tax Laws

The Government helps registered Udyam company, in the reduction or removal of a liability. It may provide complete relief from taxes, reduced rates, or tax on only a portion of items.

9) Take Part in International fairs

The Indian government encourages and approves Udyam registered startups, entrepreneurs company, and existing small-medium businesses to take part in international fairs, to display and promote their products and services.

MSME Registration is free, paperless and based on self- declaration

✅ MSME registration process is fully online, paperless and based on self-declaration.
✅ No documents or proof are required to be uploaded for registering an MSME.
✅ Only Adhaar Number will be enough for registration.
✅ PAN & GST linked details on investment and turnover of enterprises will be taken automatically from Government data bases.
✅ Online system will be fully integrated with Income Tax and GSTIN systems.
✅ Having PAN & GST number is mandatory from 01.04.2021.
✅ Those who have EM-II or UAM registration or any other registration issued by any authority under the Ministry of MSME, will have to re-register themselves.
✅ No enterprise shall file more than one Udyam Registration. However, any number of activities including manufacturing or service or both may be specified or added in one Registration.

Government has organised a full system of Facilitation for Registration Process

✅ An enterprise for the purpose of this process will be known as Udyam and its Registration Process will be known as 'Udyam Registration'
✅ A permanent registration number will be given after registration.
✅ After completion of the process of registration, a certificate will be issued online.
✅ This certificate will have a dynamic QR Code from which the web page on our Portal and details about the enterprise can be accessed.
✅ There will be no need for renewal of Registration.
