Ministry of Earth Sciences Government of India - incoismoes Small Vessel Advisory and Forecast Service (SVAS) is enhancing fisherfolk safety at sea through impact-based forecasts and early warnings for small vessels operating in Indian coastal waters.

The service provides overturning risk forecasts up to 10 days in advance, Boat Safety Index (BSI)-based advisories, and vessel-specific guidance tailored to different beam width categories.

By supporting marine safety, disaster preparedness, and informed decision-making, SVAS plays a vital role in protecting fishing communities across India’s coastal states and UTs.
