The High Commission of the Republic of Fiji in New Delhi proudly commemorated Ratu Sukuna Day on 28 May 2026, bringing together members of the Fijian diaspora, Fiji students studying in India under the ICCR Scholarship Programme, friends of Fiji, and Mission staff. The programme featured a keynote address by H.E. Jagnnath Sami on the life and legacy of Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna, a special video presentation, and a community wellness session incorporating carrom board and card games. The event served as a meaningful opportunity to honour one of Fiji's greatest nation-builders while strengthening community bonds, promoting wellbeing, and celebrating our shared Fijian heritage

The Fiji High Commission in New Delhi was delighted to welcome Mrs. Mamta Singh (Head Teacher), Executive and Support Staff Members, and school children from U.P.S. Narayanpur Agresar, Bhadar, Amethi, Uttar Pradesh on 27 May 2026 for an educational visit to the Mission. H.E. Jagnnath Sami, High Commissioner of Fiji to India, delivered an engaging presentation introducing students to Fiji’s geography, culture, economy, education system, Girmit heritage, and the strong Fiji–India relationship, while also explaining the important work of a diplomatic mission. The visit provided students with valuable exposure to diplomacy, international relations, and Fiji’s unique place in the Pacific and global community. The Mission thanks the school delegation for their visit and enthusiasm in learning more about Fiji and the work of the High Commission.

The Fiji High Commission in New Delhi was pleased to host Mr. Kuldeep Gupta, Founder & CEO of ChemVolt Global, for a productive discussion with H.E. Jagnnath Sami on 19 May 2026. Discussions focused on strengthening Fiji–India economic cooperation and exploring opportunities in renewable energy, solar and battery storage solutions, maritime infrastructure, port development, sustainable investment, and innovation-driven growth. H.E. Sami highlighted Fiji’s strategic location in the Pacific and its strong potential as a regional hub, while emphasizing the importance of environmentally sustainable and climate-resilient development. The meeting concluded with mutual interest in continued engagement and the exploration of future partnerships that could contribute to Fiji’s sustainable development agenda.

The Fiji High Commission in New Delhi proudly hosted the 147th Fiji Girmit Commemoration Day celebrations on 14 May 2026 under the theme “From Roots to Wings – Carrying the Girmit Flame Forward.” The event brought together members of the diplomatic corps, Fiji nationals, students, and friends of Fiji to honour the sacrifices, resilience, and enduring legacy of the Girmitiyas. His Excellency Jagnnath Sami, High Commissioner of the Republic of Fiji to India, delivered the keynote address reflecting on the shared history and strong people-to-people ties between Fiji and India, while also providing a special recorded message aired live on FBC TV as part of Fiji’s national Girmit commemorations. The celebrations featured vibrant cultural performances by Fiji student Patricia Niumataiwalu, including Guru Vandana, Ua Ni Yadra, and Garba, showcasing Fiji’s rich multicultural heritage and the enduring spirit of unity, resilience, and cultural preservation.

Jagnnath Sami on potential cooperation in digital governance, identity management systems, immigration processing, healthcare records, education databases, and digital public service delivery. Discussions focused on opportunities to support Fiji’s ongoing digital transformation initiatives through secure and integrated technology solutions, including possible collaboration in digital verification systems, recruitment management, medical records digitisation, and citizen service platforms. Both sides agreed to continue engagement and explore practical sector-specific proposals aligned with Fiji’s national development priorities.

Jagnnath Sami on potential collaboration in healthcare, medical training, specialist services, and capacity building. Discussions focused on opportunities for supporting Fiji’s growing healthcare needs through training for Fijian doctors and technicians, specialist medical partnerships, affordable healthcare access, medical tourism, and possible future cooperation in pharmaceuticals and healthcare infrastructure development. Both sides expressed interest in strengthening Fiji–India cooperation in the health sector for the benefit of Fiji and the wider Pacific region.
