It pleasure to share that “Gram Varta” has been selected among the top three nominations for the CAPAM International Innovations Awards 2016 under the category Citizen –Focused Innovation. Gram Varta features on top of the three entries selected for the final stage. Even at the screening stage; Gram Varta had topped the list of 14 semi-finalists.
The Common Wealth Association for Public Administration and Management (CAPAM) organises a biannual International Innovations Awards in the Public Service by recognizing interventions that have made significant contribution to improving governance and services in the public sector. The objective of the award is to encourage innovators explore, create and implement newer ideas in order to enhance the quality of life for citizens, communities and nations.

Gram Varta intervention plans to initiate and sustain community level dialogue on issues related to malnutrition, health, water & sanitation.
Gram Varta aims to integrate maternal, child, and family nutrition and health into the SHG meeting framework. It engages various Self Help Groups (SHGs), managed by the block level Federation office, through a systematic process of community mobilization to overcome the problems of malnutrition within their families and in the communities around them. Before 140 days: Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar on (Thursday) 9th July 2015 vowed to introduce ‘’ Total Prohibition on liquor’’ in Bihar. The assurance came at a State-level workshop of Gram Varta, in response to a spontaneous demand from women self- help groups (SHGs).
After 140 days: Bihar will go dry from April 1, 2016, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced on (Thursday) 26th November 2015. The chief minister made this announcement as a part of his pre-election pledge at an official function to mark Prohibition Day.
