From Adversity to the Arena—Naik Balasubramanian’s Journey of Resilience

In 2017, a minefield accident in Jammu & Kashmir cost Naik Balasubramanian his right hand. A year of treatment and rehabilitation at 92 Base Hospital, Srinagar, followed—testing his resolve, but never diminishing it.

Returning to service, he rebuilt his life through discipline and perseverance, serving across Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Chennai. It was during his tenure in Chennai that he discovered para-sports and found a new mission.

His sporting journey began with Rock Climbing trials before he found his true calling in Taekwondo. He embraced the discipline with the same courage, focus and determination that had defined his journey as a soldier.

Now training at the ASC Centre, Bengaluru, Naik Balasubramanian has earned selection for the National Taekwondo Competition 2027— where he will carry forward a journey forged through resilience, adaptability and an unwavering will to excel.

When Adversity Changes the Path, Courage Finds a New Way Forward.
