At the Office of Climate Research & Services, IMD Pune, the occasion is being marked with an Open Day, welcoming the public to learn more about IMDтАЩs activities and interact with our weather forecasters. Aligned with this yearтАЩs theme, we are pleased to introduce a Digital Surface Meteorological Observation System into our surface observation network. ЁЯМжя╕П

Designed and developed in-house by the Surface Instrument Division of India Meteorological Department, Pune, this system uses Wi-Fi-enabled digital sensors to measure key parameters such as air temperature, humidity, pressure, wind, and rainfallтАФproviding accurate, real-time, geo-tagged data for meteorological applications.

It is a matter of great pride that the Climate Research & Services Office, Pune was awarded the Second Prize for Outstanding Implementation of Official Language (Rajbhasha) for the year 2024тАУ2025 (in the category of offices with more than 50 employees) at a celebration held on 17th February 2026, organized by CSIRтАУNational Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pashan, Pune.

In addition, the office received a Certificate of Appreciation for successfully organizing the Inter-Office Self-Composed Hindi Poetry Recitation Competition held on 29 July 2025.

CWPRS and CRS, IMD Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Strengthen Collaboration in Water and Climate Research.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Prabhat Chandra, Director, CWPRS, Pune, and Shri Rahul Saxena, Scientist-G, IMD.

The MoU provides a framework for institutional collaboration between CWPRS and IMD-CRS, facilitating the exchange of scientific knowledge, technical expertise, and relevant data.

We were honoured to welcome Dr. Abdulla Al Mandous, President of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates with WMO, to Climate Research and Services (CRS), Pune.

Dr. M. Mohapatra, Director General of Meteorology (DGM), warmly welcomed Dr. Al Mandous and accompanied him during the visit.

Dr. Al Mandous interacted with scientists and officials, reviewed ongoing operational and research activities, and discussed avenues for enhanced international collaboration in climate services and research.
