वास्तव में यह प्रथा दान का ही एक दूसरा रूप है। जल जीवनदाता होता है और इसका संबंध विभिन्न देवी-देवताओं से है। जब नदी या जलाशय आदि में सिक्का डालते हैं तो यह उसके दैवीय स्वरूप को एक भेंट चढ़ाने का तरीका होता है।

इसका दूसरा पहलू भी है। प्राचीन काल में तांबे के सिक्कों का प्रचलन था। चूंकि तांबा जल के शुद्धिकरण में काम आता है। आयुर्वेद में भी कहा गया है कि तांबे के बर्तन में रखा शुद्ध जल स्वास्थ्य के लिए अतिउत्तम होता है। इसलिए जब जलाशय या नदी में तांबे का सिक्का डालते थे तो यह उसे शुद्ध करता था। चूंकि सिक्के धरातल में जाकर कई दिनों तक वहां जमा होते रहते थे। इससे उनका अंश धीरे-धीरे जल में घुलता था। इससे शुद्धिकरण की यह प्रक्रिया जारी रहती थी। आज तांबे के सिक्कों का प्रचलन नहीं है लेकिन सिक्का डालने की परंपरा पूर्ववत जारी है। ज्योतिष में भी विभिन्न दोष दूर करने के लिए जल में सिक्के व पूजन सामग्री प्रवाहित करने की प्रथा है।

Scientific Reason Of Holi # # # As Holi comes at a time of the year when people have a tendency to feel sleepy and lazy. This is natural for the body to experiences some tardiness due to the change from the cold to the heat in the atmosphere. The mutation period of winter and spring, induces the growth of bacteria in the atmosphere as well as in the body. When Holika is burnt, temperature rises to about 145 degrees Fahrenhiet. Following the tradition when people perform Parikrima (circumambulation or going around) around the fire, the heat from the fire kills the bacteria in the body thus, cleansing it. # # #
