Our Story
Ideology:
Seva Mitra Mandal was established in 1965 with an endeavor to serve the society and help all those who have been left neglected in the society through one of the most powerful mediums, 'Ganeshotsav'. Our motto is "सेवा परमो धर्म:" which means Service is our religion and we are committed to it. Since the establishment, we have been working to generate awareness about various social issues concerning life, education, science, innovations, etc. Today, Seva Mitra Mandal is one the most recognized Mandals known for its social welfare activities.
Rather than confining ourselves to the 10 days of festival, We carryout many social and cultural programs throughout the year.
Ganeshotsav:
Every year we celebrate Ganeshotsav by bringing forward a social issue. Some of the issues we have presented in the last decade in a very innovative format and for which we were able to bring about some significant social awareness are:
- Pollution Control
- Traffic Issues
- Unconventional sources of energy
- India Vision 2020
- Illiteracy
- Corruption
- Terrorism
- Rain Water harvesting and Water Pollution
- Old age homes
- Premature Motherhood
- Preservation of historical monuments
- Wildlife preservation
- Farmer suicides
We always provide a takeaway for our audience, with simple steps towards a solution. Deep Research, Unique presentation and simple and clear messages through these decorations have lead us to develop our own class of audience over the period.
Mandal has bagged first prize for its decoration for many years in many competitions. On top of that Mandal has also earned acclamation from various critiques for its Decoration and Social work. They provide the testimony to Mandal’s social work and the motivation for us to work even harder every year.
Over the Year:
Apart from Ganeshotsav, we are active all around the year with close to 30-40 different programs of social and cultural importance. Some of those are very close to our hearts:
Summer camp for orphaned children, Monsoon picnic for blind girls, Felicitation of workmen who have contributed a lot towards the society but are left neglected, Raksha Bandhan with the soldiers at the Kharkee's Paraplegic Center, Celebrating first day at school with some social awareness, Meals to Varkaris and providing them some help for the pilgrimage, Helping the old age homes, Felicitation of Teachers who serve the society altruistically but are not given the due respect, 'Toran', on Bicycles, Fort making competition, Fancy dress competition, Lighting the first deep of Diwali at a veteran soldiers house, 'Bhaubeej' with soldiers and their families, distributing sweets to the poor, providing the orphanges with new cloths for the kids on Diwali and many more, the list goes on. Yet we believe there is still a lot to be done.
