🌸 *Turning Awareness into Action* 🌸

Today, TSKN and PadCare jointly conducted an awareness drive on sustainable sanitary waste management at the Resource Recycling Centre (RRC), Kalyani Nagar.

The session was led by Kartikeyan and Omkar from PadCare, along with enthusiastic student volunteers Vihaan and Shri. Around 25 people were sensitized on the importance of proper disposal and recycling of sanitary waste, helping break taboos while promoting cleaner and more sustainable communities. PadCare is a startup that helps societies and corporate offices recycle their sanitary waste. They also displayed some of the products made from.recycled sanitary waste.

The drive saw participation from Mukadam Yogesh Jadhav and Yeshwant Londe and our safai karmacharis, whose role is crucial in making waste management systems work on the ground.

A big thank you to Aruna Suratkal, Vidya Hegde of TSKN, Sandeep from Scrapwala, the PadCare team, the students, and all participants for supporting this important initiative.

Together, we can ensure that sanitary waste is managed responsibly, protecting both people and the environment. ♻️💚

*BEST SUSTAINABILITY PRACTICES.*
By Installation art made using ewaste by Shro systems sourced from Kalyani Nagar's
*Resource Recycling Centre (RRC)*

At the office of Shro Systems, DNK Square, Viman Nagar.
The idea came from Vasudha Shrotriya, Director at Shro Systems (in the picture), who is a huge sustainability champion in her home and at her office.

They have platforms to promote reuse and recycling at the office - cigarette butts are collected for a recycling company, and through PadCare they recycle sanitary pads. All their office waste is also appropriately segregated for recycling.

Best sustainability practices are the norm at Shro Systems.

Team Swachh Kalyani Nagar (TSKN) is very proud of this Kalyani Nagar family, and wishes them the very best in their endeavours.

Meeting of TSKN members and Kalyani Nagar(KN) residents with DCP (Zone 4) Shri. Chilumula Rajnikant, Sr. PI Shri. Anjum Bagbaan, API Shri. Dinesh Patil, Sr PI Traffic Smt. Jadhav and Corporator Shri. Narayan Galande at Ramvadi Police Chowkey on Tuesday 31st March 2026 from 5.30 pm to 7pm.

A quick introduction was given by the KN residents who were present in large numbers for the meeting and then they put forth the following major safety, security and traffic issues in their respective lanes:-
1) Alcohol consumption on lane 13, South Avenue, West Avenue near Nagarvala school and in cars parked on the KN lanes and bylanes.
2) Women are fearful to walk on lane 2 and 13 after 7pm because there are people hanging around making loose comments and drinking.
3) Rampant Commercialization in KN, bungalows and flats converted into Cafes, schools etc. has led to illegal parking leaving no space for KN residents to walk or park their cars.
4) Parking on both sides of lane 13 and double parking outside Silver oak society makes it difficult for both pedestrians and vehicles to move about and is a constant safety and security threat to them.
5) Noise pollution created at Kukoo Cafe near Silver oak society and at the Swiggy outlet in Lane 10 is extremely disturbing to residents especially children and senior citizens and poses a serious health hazard to them.
6) Illegal rickshaw stands in KN and rickshaws ferrying 9 people at a time and flouting parking rules too.
7) Residents of Palace view society have observed many people consuming drugs near the Licious chicken shop. Also there is traffic jam occuring on the lane due to the cars parked by Barbeque nation and IQB.
8) Few issues to be addressed by PMC like non functional street lights, street lights blocked by trees/branches, illegal usage of front margins of shops, giving permissions to commercial outlets in KN.

After patiently listening and understanding the issues faced by the residents DCP Shri. Chilumula Rajnikant suggested the following actions to be taken by his team:-
1) One week flash out operation by one nodal police officer and one traffic police with the help of inputs from the residents.
2) Installation of CCTV at entry and exit levels of lanes wherever feasible.
3) Residents are encouraged to use the PTP app to report traffic violations.

Corporator Shri. Narayan Galande suggested that he would organize a meeting of the KN residents with the concerned PMC officials to discuss and resolve the issues faced by them.

The meeting concluded with an applause, appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to the traffic team for their prompt response, quick action and follow up with the residents by TSKN members and KN residents.
