WORLD NO TO***CO DAY 2026 CELEBRATED AT AIIMS RAIPUR
On the occasion of ***coDay2026, School of Public Health, conducted a health awareness activity to educate the public about the harmful effects of to***co consumption and the benefits of quitting to***co.

The program highlighted the World No To***co Day 2026 theme, "Unmasking the Appeal: Countering Ni****ne and To***co Addiction,” which focuses on exposing the strategies used by the to***co and ni****ne industries to make their products attractive, particularly among young people.

The session emphasized the health risks associated with smoking and smokeless to***co use, including cancers, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory illnesses, and other non-communicable diseases.

Awareness was also created regarding to***co cessation services and support mechanisms available for individuals willing to quit to***co. Participants were informed about the importance of early cessation and the positive impact it can have on overall health and well-being.

The programme concluded with an interactive discussion with the public, where participants actively shared their views and experiences, and common doubts regarding to***co use, addiction, and cessation were addressed.

AIIMS DELHI AND AIIMS RAIPUR COLLABORATE THROUGH TELEPRESENCE TECHNOLOGY DURING ROBOTIC-ASSISTED CHOLECYSTECTOMY
In a landmark initiative showcasing the integration of advanced surgical technology with inter-institutional collaboration, the Departments of Surgery at AIIMS Delhi and AIIMS Raipur successfully conducted a robotic-assisted cholecystectomy utilizing Intuitive’s telepresence capability on May 21, 2026.
The procedure demonstrated the potential of real-time telepresence technology in enabling seamless remote surgical collaboration, intraoperative mentoring, and exchange of expertise between leading healthcare institutions. The platform facilitated continuous interaction between the surgical teams, allowing discussion on operative strategies, technical nuances, workflow optimization, and intraoperative decision-making during critical stages of the procedure.
Speaking on the occasion, Lt Gen Ashok Jindal (Retd), Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Raipur, stated, “The future of healthcare will depend not only on technological advancement, but also on how effectively institutions collaborate to strengthen clinical capabilities and improve access to quality care. Technology-enabled partnerships can significantly enhance learning, skill development, and create more connected healthcare ecosystems capable of addressing evolving patient needs across the country.”
Dr. Debajyoti Mohanty, Professor and Head, Department of General Surgery, AIIMS Raipur, emphasized that the collaboration provided an important academic and clinical platform for knowledge exchange and demonstrated the expanding role of telepresence technology in modern surgical practice, training, and patient care.
The AIIMS Delhi team was led by Dr. Sunil Chumber, Head of the Department of Surgical Disciplines. एम्स रायपुर द्वारा सूचित किया जाता है कि छत्तीसगढ़ की प्रसिद्ध लोक कलाकार एवं पद्म विभूषण सम्मान से सम्मानित श्रीमती तीजन बाई को गंभीर स्वास्थ्य स्थिति में एम्स रायपुर के ट्रॉमा एवं इमरजेंसी विभाग में लाया गया। वर्तमान में उनका उपचार मेडिकल इंटेंसिव केयर यूनिट (MICU) में चल रहा है।
मरीज की प्रारंभिक जांच ट्रॉमा इमरजेंसी में डॉ. नमन द्वारा की गई तथा बाद में उन्हें जनरल मेडिसिन विभाग में डॉ. पी. एन. वासनिक के निर्देशन में भर्ती किया गया।

वर्तमान में मरीज का उपचार बहु-विषयक विशेषज्ञ टीम द्वारा किया जा रहा है, जिसमें डॉ. प्रणिता (मेडिसिन), डॉ. रंगनाथ (पल्मोनरी मेडिसिन) एवं डॉ. नीलम (नेफ्रोलॉजी) शामिल हैं। एम्स रायपुर के मेडिकल सुपरिंटेंडेंट डॉ. डी. के. त्रिपाठी भी मरीज के उपचार एवं निगरानी में सक्रिय रूप से जुड़े हुए हैं।

मरीज की लगातार निगरानी की जा रही है तथा स्थापित चिकित्सा प्रोटोकॉल के अनुसार आवश्यक जांच एवं उपचार प्रदान किया जा रहा है। हालांकि वर्तमान में मरीज की स्थिति गंभीर बनी हुई है।

एम्स रायपुर के कार्यपालक निदेशक एवं मुख्य कार्यपालन अधिकारी लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल अशोक जिंदल (सेवानिवृत्त) स्वयं मरीज की स्थिति की निगरानी कर रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि एम्स रायपुर सर्वोत्तम चिकित्सा एवं क्रिटिकल केयर सुविधाएं उपलब्ध कराने हेतु पूर्णतः प्रतिबद्ध है।

AIIMS Raipur Receives iRAD Training Conducted by NIC; First Road Accident Case Registered Under PM-RAHAT Scheme
All India Institute of Medical Sciences received a special training workshop on the Integrated Road Accident Database (iRAD) for the nursing staff of the Trauma and Emergency Department. The workshop aimed to strengthen rapid road accident data entry, streamline accident management, and enhance awareness regarding the implementation of the Government of India’s PM-RAHAT scheme for road accident victims.
The program was conducted by National Informatics Centre in the presence of Medical Superintendent AIIMS Dr. Debendra Tripathi and NIC Joint Director Amit Kumar Dewangan. The workshop was coordinated by State Rollout Manager Sharansh Shirke, District Rollout Manager Archana Rajput, Dr. Varun Anand (Nodal officer), Dr. Pallavi Shende (Co- ordinator), and Mr. Saurabh Kumar(MSSO).
During the workshop, Shri Amit Kumar Dewangan explained the functioning of the iRAD application and highlighted its crucial role in scientific road accident reporting and emergency response management. Shri Sharansh Shirke also briefed participants about the PM-RAHAT scheme and the operational aspects of the iRAD portal.
A key highlight of the training session was the live demonstration of a real road accident case entered into the iRAD portal. The case involved Guddu (name changed), an 18-year-old resident of Balod, who sustained head injuries in a two-wheeler road accident on 21 May 2026 at around 5:00 PM near his residence. After receiving initial treatment at a nearby hospital, he was referred to AIIMS Raipur for advanced care.
The patient reported to AIIMS Raipur on 22 May 2026 at approximately 9:15 AM, following which immediate treatment was initiated by the emergency team. Counseling and support were also provided to the patient and his family members. Under the Government of India’s “Prime Minister – Road Accident Victims Hospitalization and Assured Treatment (PM-RAHAT)” scheme, the patient was successfully registered and provided cashless treatment as per the scheme guidelines.
The live case demonstration offered nursing staff practical exposure to real-time accident reporting, emergency coordination, and implementation of the PM-RAHAT initiative. Hospital authorities stated that such training programs would further strengthen trauma care systems and improve timely support for road accident victims.

AIIMS रायपुर ने 10 माह के शिशु में दुर्लभ एवं जटिल हृदय शल्य चिकित्सा कर बचाई जान
All India Institute of Medical Sciences Raipur के कार्डियक साइंसेज़ विभाग ने बाल हृदय चिकित्सा के क्षेत्र में एक महत्वपूर्ण उपलब्धि हासिल करते हुए 10 माह के एक शिशु की अत्यंत जटिल सुधारात्मक हृदय शल्य चिकित्सा सफलतापूर्वक संपन्न की। शिशु को ALCAPA (एनॉमलस लेफ्ट कोरोनरी आर्टरी फ्रॉम द पल्मोनरी आर्टरी) नामक अत्यंत दुर्लभ एवं जानलेवा जन्मजात हृदय विकार था, जिसकी घटना लगभग 3 लाख जीवित जन्मों में केवल एक में पाई जाती है।
रायपुर जिले के निवासी इस शिशु को बीमारी की गंभीरता और अत्यधिक शल्य जोखिम के कारण कई चिकित्सा केन्द्रों में उपचार से मना कर दिया गया था। अंततः शिशु को AIIMS रायपुर रेफर किया गया, जहाँ कार्डियोथोरेसिक एवं वैस्कुलर सर्जरी (CTVS), कार्डियोलॉजी, कार्डियक एनेस्थीसिया, रेडियोलॉजी तथा पीडियाट्रिक्स विभागों के विशेषज्ञों की बहुविषयक टीम ने इस चुनौतीपूर्ण मामले का उपचार किया।
कार्डियोलॉजिस्ट Dr. Naik के अनुसार, ALCAPA जन्मजात हृदय रोगों में सबसे दुर्लभ और जटिल विकृतियों में से एक है तथा विश्वभर में केवल कुछ विशेषीकृत केन्द्र ही ऐसे गंभीर रूप से बीमार शिशुओं का उपचार करने में सक्षम हैं। शिशु की हृदय कार्यक्षमता अत्यंत गंभीर रूप से प्रभावित थी, जिसमें लेफ्ट वेंट्रिकुलर इजेक्शन फ्रैक्शन मात्र 20% था तथा गंभीर माइट्रल रिगर्जिटेशन भी मौजूद था, जिससे ऑपरेशन एवं पोस्ट-ऑपरेटिव जोखिम अत्यधिक बढ़ गया था।
यह जटिल शल्य चिकित्सा CTVS टीम द्वारा सफलतापूर्वक की गई। जटिल पेरीऑपरेटिव एवं एनेस्थीसिया प्रबंधन का नेतृत्व Dr. Subrata Singha एवं उनकी टीम ने किया, जिन्होंने ऑपरेशन के दौरान एवं उसके बाद अत्यंत सावधानीपूर्वक देखभाल सुनिश्चित की। ऑपरेशन के बाद के पहले 24 घंटे अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण रहे, जिनमें गहन बहुविषयक निगरानी एवं उपचार की आवश्यकता पड़ी।
सफल शल्य चिकित्सा के पश्चात शिशु में उल्लेखनीय सुधार देखा गया। उसे ऑपरेशन के दूसरे दिन वेंटिलेटर से हटाया गया तथा नौवें पोस्ट-ऑपरेटिव दिन स्थिर स्थिति में अस्पताल से छुट्टी दे दी गई।
इस उपलब्धि पर चिकित्सा दल को बधाई देते हुए Lt Gen Ashok Jindal (Retd) ने कहा कि यह सफलता AIIMS रायपुर के लिए एक महत्वपूर्ण मील का पत्थर है तथा यह संस्थान की उन्नत बाल हृदय शल्य चिकित्सा एवं उच्च जोखिम वाले समग्र कार्डियक उपचार में बढ़ती विशेषज्ञता को दर्शाती है, जो देश एवं विश्व के अग्रणी चिकित्सा केन्द्रों के समकक्ष है।

AIIMS RAIPUR CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY 2026 UNDER THE THEME “HRIDAYA-2.0”
The Department of Nursing, AIIMS Raipur, celebrated International Nurses Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and pride on 16th May 2026 under the theme “HRIDAYA-2.0”, commemorating the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of modern nursing.
The event was organized under the guidance and support of the hospital administration and witnessed vibrant participation from nearly 1,200 nursing personnel, faculty members, and students, reflecting the unity, dedication, and spirit of the nursing fraternity at AIIMS Raipur.
The celebration was graced by distinguished dignitaries including Lt. Gen. Dr. Ashok Jindal (Retd), Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Raipur, who served as the Chief Patron; Prof. (Dr.) D.K. Tripathy, Officiating Medical Superintendent (Patron); Prof. (Dr.) Virat Galhotra, Additional Medical Superintendent (Co-Patron); Lt. Col. Dharmaveer Singh Chauhan, Deputy Director (Administration), as Distinguished Guest; Col. AIIMS Raipur Hosts Two-Day National Conference on “Yogasana Sports: Opportunities & Challenges” Raipur, 18 May 2026:

A two-day National Conference on “Yogasana Sports: Opportunities & Challenges” was jointly organized by AIIMS Raipur, Chhattisgarh Yogasana Sports Association, and Yogasana Bharat on 17th and 18th May 2026 at the Auditorium of AIIMS Raipur. The conference focused on the emerging recognition of Yoga as a competitive sport and brought together eminent dignitaries, medical professionals, yoga experts, researchers, students, and practitioners from across the country. The inaugural ceremony was held on 17th May 2026 in the gracious presence of Lt Gen Ashok Jindal (Retd), Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Raipur, as the Chief Guest. He delivered the keynote address on “Holistic Health and Modern Medicine.” Mr. Rachit Kaushik, Treasurer, Yogasana Bharat, who spoke on career opportunities in Yogasanas Sports. Prof. (Dr.) Eli Mohapatra, Dean (Academics), AIIMS Raipur, also addressed the gathering. The vote of thanks was proposed by Shri Goswami Jayant Vishnu Bharti, President, Chhattisgarh Yogasana Sports Association. The conference featured expert sessions on various scientific, medical, and sports-related aspects of Yogasana. Dr. Ananda Balayogi Bhavnani, Director and Professor of Yoga Therapy, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, Pondicherry, spoke on the holistic impact of Yogasana Sports on the youth of Bharat. Prof. (Dr.) Mrithunjay Rathore, Department of Anatomy, AIIMS Raipur, discussed the biomechanics of asanas, including planes of motion, joint kinematics, and injury reduction. Other key sessions included the effect of yoga on the autonomic nervous system by Prof. (Dr.) Ekta Khandelwal, Associate Dean (Research), AIIMS Raipur; cardio-pulmonary exercise training in Yoga by Prof. (Dr.) Avinash Ingle, Dean (Examinations), AIIMS Raipur; and research methodology in Yoga by Dr. Vikram Pai, Medical Officer, Yoga & Naturopathy, AIIMS Raipur. Dr. Ajay Kumar, Associate Professor of Psychiatry, AIIMS Raipur, delivered a session on competitive stress management in Yogasana Sports. The conference also included sessions by Dr. Rudra Bhandari, Principal, School of Yoga Sciences, S.R. Himalayan University, Dehradun; Dr. Rajeev Choudhary, Professor, Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur; Ms. Aarti Pal, Joint Secretary, Yogasana Bharat; Dr. C.K. AIIMS Raipur has achieved a landmark accomplishment by securing a place among India’s leading healthcare institutions in the prestigious Newsweek World’s Best Hospitals 2026 rankings. The institute has been ranked 6th among the country’s best government hospitals and first amongst the New AIIMS, reflecting its rapid emergence as a Centre of Excellence in patient care, medical education, research, and innovation.
