AIIMS RAIPUR CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY 2026 UNDER THE THEME “HRIDAYA-2.0”
The Department of Nursing, AIIMS Raipur, celebrated International Nurses Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and pride on 16th May 2026 under the theme “HRIDAYA-2.0”, commemorating the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of modern nursing.
The event was organized under the guidance and support of the hospital administration and witnessed vibrant participation from nearly 1,200 nursing personnel, faculty members, and students, reflecting the unity, dedication, and spirit of the nursing fraternity at AIIMS Raipur.
The celebration was graced by distinguished dignitaries including Lt. Gen. Dr. Ashok Jindal (Retd), Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Raipur, who served as the Chief Patron; Prof. (Dr.) D.K. Tripathy, Officiating Medical Superintendent (Patron); Prof. (Dr.) Virat Galhotra, Additional Medical Superintendent (Co-Patron); Lt. Col. Dharmaveer Singh Chauhan, Deputy Director (Administration), as Distinguished Guest; Col. Binu Sharma, Executive Director, Lone Star & CEO, INS India, who attended as the Chief Guest; Dr. Binu Mathew, Principal, College of Nursing, AIIMS Raipur, as Distinguished Guest; and Mr. Miryala Ravi Chandra, Organizing Chairperson.
During his address, Lt. Gen. Ashok Jindal emphasized that true respect in the nursing profession is earned through compassion, dignity, and humanity in patient care. He stated that when nurses treat patients with kindness and empathy, patients carry that gratitude in their hearts, which becomes the greatest honor for any healthcare professional. He further highlighted that while employee welfare remains important, the ultimate goal of healthcare is to ensure that every patient leaves the hospital with satisfaction, hope, and a smile.
Chief Guest Col. Binu Sharma appreciated the tireless efforts, professionalism, leadership, and unwavering dedication demonstrated by the nursing fraternity in delivering quality patient care. She emphasized that nurses are compassionate, committed, competent, and caring professionals, and described nursing as one of the most noble, ethical, trusted, and globally respected professions built upon humanity, empathy, and service to society.
Dr. Binu Mathew, Principal, College of Nursing, AIIMS Raipur, highlighted this year’s International Nurses Day theme and emphasized that nurses become truly empowered through quality education, safe working environments, fair recognition, leadership opportunities, and continuous emotional support. He appreciated the evolving leadership role of nurses in strengthening the healthcare system.
Mr. Miryala Ravi Chandra, Deputy Nursing Superintendent and Organizing Chairperson, expressed gratitude to the AIIMS Raipur administration for its unwavering support towards the nursing fraternity and continuous encouragement. He stated that the nursing team of AIIMS Raipur continues to grow, adapt, and lead with dedication, discipline, and deep compassion.
During the programme, Ms. Rachana, Deputy Nursing Superintendent, officially unveiled the International Nurses Day 2026 theme:
“Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives.”
As part of the celebrations, a wide range of activities were conducted over several weeks to encourage participation, teamwork, creativity, wellness, and professional excellence among nursing personnel. Various sports and games competitions, cultural events, and academic activities were organized successfully.
A marathon promoting health awareness and fitness was conducted on 10 May 2026, while educational and academic activities aimed at enhancing professional learning and knowledge sharing were organized on 12 May 2026. The celebrations concluded with a grand cultural programme on 16 May 2026, creating an atmosphere of joy, unity, and appreciation for the nursing fraternity.
The event stood as a tribute to the invaluable contribution of nurses and reaffirmed AIIMS Raipur’s commitment towards empowering and supporting its healthcare workforce.
