Food plants might be one the reasons why ancient civilizations began to thrive in certain parts of world, such as Indus and Nile Valley. As soon as the nomadic men came to realize that they could sow, harvest, collect and store the foods, they began to live in denser populations. They later developed the art of fine cooking. Today, the culinary art is not complete without the use of spices and oils extracted from the seeds. We bring you some of these exotic food plants to make your food more palatable and to fire your taste buds. These spices and seeds are the essential ingredients used in Asian, African and Mediterranean regions from generations for cooking and flavoring as also to add nutritional value to the diet. No doubt, the secret behind the popularity of Indian, Chinese, Thai, Lebanese and Middle Eastern cuisine is due to these sacred seeds (the important quality, to some extent, absent in western cuisine). In the ensuing pages, you will find products such as Spices and Oilseeds, Cereals and Grains, and Groceries along with their culinary and medicinal uses. We invite you to discover the distinct flavors found in the seeds and make you a kind of gourmet.
