Over 50 percent of the total area on the Saurashtra’s (Western Gujarat, India) land has been utilized under cultivation. The belt is spread across different types of crops and cropping patterns. The leading crops of Saurashtra are cotton, jowar, bajra, wheat, groundnut caster seeds, seasum, paddy, sugarcane, gram, udad, mag, barley, chana, pulses-onion, garlic. , and jowar have occupied the second, third and fourth position respectively in percentage of land’s coverage in cultivation. Wheat, seasum, sugarcane etc., are relatively on lower priority; which is also reflected on the area occupied statistics. Saurashtra soils are blessed with natural resources and a wealth of traditional agricultural skills. A large portion that’s being produced in these regions comprises the cash crops such as groundnut, cotton, castor, sugar cane, etc. Raw material and other agro-infrastructural facilities are very well available to the Saurashtra region. The Saurashtrian band has over 3033 agricultural business units unequally biased towards only a few Talukas. Aligning and organizing these skewed proportions is one of the primary motives of this summit. Relatively lesser exposure and access to advanced raw materials, financial facilities, marketing opportunities and other infrastructural facilities creates a problem for the underprivileged zones of Saurashtra awaiting their chance to unearth its fertile possibilities. Addressing all of these technological flaws and knowledge-based inaccessibility; comes together the idea of having a grand Agro Summit where not only farmers but entire business segments that cater to agriculture supporting facilities can come together and accomplish the unattended problems to fruitful reforms. Exploring tools and techniques to increase per hectare yield production capacity of soils
Enable the farmers in shortening the supply chain and eliminating the middle agents to ensure better returns and more affordable farming
Develop market ready products so as to reduce the farmers’ dependency on external players for sales
Educate and make the farmers aware about the latest technology in farming to ensure better results and enable a more sustainable farming avenue
Encourage Drip & Sprinkler Irrigation to optimize the cultivation activities and save the crops from suffering due to climatic challenges
