Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee, is proudly showcasing its innovative indigenous technologies at the BASIC 2026 being organised at ICAR-IVRI, Izatnagar, during June 1-2, 2026. The major attractions at the CSIR-CBRI exhibition stall include the technologies associated with Ram Mandir, the Surya Tilak for Shri Ram Mandir, 3D Printed Rural House, Brick Kiln and several sustainable and advanced building technologies developed by CSIR-CBRI. The exhibition has received an enthusiastic response from visitors, researchers, students, and dignitaries.

On 26 May, 2026, CSIR–Central Building Research Institute (CSIR-CBRI), Roorkee, marked a significant milestone today with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla. The MoU was formally signed in the presence of Prof. R. Pradeep Kumar, Director, CSIR-CBRI, and Prof. Mahavir Prasad, Vice Chancellor, HPU along with the Registrar and their esteemed faculty members. The collaboration is envisioned to strengthen interdisciplinary research, encourage scientific exchange, fostering academic collaboration, research partnerships, knowledge exchange, and innovation for mutual interest. Prof. R. Pradeep Kumar underlined the importance of connecting academia and research institutions for meaningful scientific progress. As part of the visit, the HPU delegation toured several state-of-the-art research and demonstration facilities at CSIR-CBRI under the coordination of Dr. D.P. Kanungo and Dr. S.K. Panigrahi. The delegation visited the renowned Dr. Billings’ Exhibition Gallery, where they explored the institute’s pioneering contributions and technological innovations in building science and construction technology. The team also visited the NEETF Laboratory and the advanced 3-D Printing Laboratory, gaining first hand exposure to cutting-edge research initiatives, modern testing facilities, and emerging technologies being developed at CSIR-CBRI to support resilient and sustainable infrastructure development. The visit served as an excellent platform for meaningful interaction, exchange of ideas, and identifying future avenues for collaborative research and innovation between the two institutions.

The 3-day Training Program on “Termite and Pest Management in Buildings” held from 20–22 May 2026 concluded successfully with an enriching valedictory session. The program provided valuable practical and technical insights into modern and sustainable pest management practices for buildings.The training was organized under the guidance of Dr. Neeraj Jain, Nodal Officer, Integrated Skill Initiative, and coordinated by Dr. Rajesh Verma, Head BMES. The successful conduct of the program reflects the continuous encouragement and visionary leadership of the Director, Prof. R. Pradeep kumar, CSIR-CBRI, towards skill development and industry-oriented capacity building initiatives. He distributed the certificates to the participants and also emphasized the importance of such training programs in promoting scientific awareness, professional competency, and sustainable building maintenance practices.

CSIR–CBRI, Roorkee successfully inaugurated a 3-day Skill Development Training Program for professionals on the theme “Termite and Pest Management in Buildings” from May 20–22, 2026. The inaugural session was conducted by Dr. Neeraj Jain, Nodal Officer, Integrated Skill Initiative & Head ODS and Dr. Rajesh Verma, Head BMES & Training Coordinator. The program witnessed the participation of nearly 32 officials and professionals from diverse sectors of the country . The training was sponsored by ENVU India (Principal Sponsor) and TermiPore (Co-Sponsor). Dr. Neeraj Jain welcomed all the dignitaries, resource persons and participants with a brief overview highlighting the importance of sustainable and scientific pest management practices in buildings.
Director, CSIR–CBRI, emphasized that the issue of termite and pest infestation in buildings has emerged as a significant challenge in the field of construction, infrastructure maintenance, and public health. Structural pests, particularly termites, are responsible for extensive damage to buildings, furniture, records, and other valuable assets, leading to substantial economic losses every year. Therefore, effective pest management is not merely a maintenance activity, but an essential component of ensuring the safety, durability, hygiene, and sustainability of our built environment. Dr. R. K. Verma informed the necessity of pest control in building and briefed about the activities to be conducted in next three days of the training program.
