The RCWS, SNDT WU, is happy to share the launch of the MEET THE ALUMNI Series, as a part of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations “RCWS@50: Celebrating Golden Legacy of Change & Challenge”. The program was inaugurated by Hon’ble Pro-Vice Chancellor and the RCWS Director Prof. Ruby Ojha, on 30th March 2024 on Zoom.

The alum for the session was Dr. Yamin Pirzada, a WS PG Certificate Course student of Batch 2012 at the RCWS. In conversation with Ms. Hiya Sachdev, Dr. Yasmin shared footprints of her life and asserted how RCWS has given wings to her dreams by instilling confidence and conviction in her. She never looked back since then.
The RCWS boasts several distinguished alumni who have contributed immensely to the RCWS by completing Masters, PG courses and PhD program. Together, we have fostered a learning environment that is both conducive and welcoming to all.

The Alumni Meet initiative, spearheaded by our Women's Studies Alumni, aims, i. to connect and consolidate the bond among ourselves and the larger Women's Studies community; ii. to serve as a platform to share concerns and challenges; iii. to celebrate achievements as advocates of women’s rights, equality, and women leadership, and iv. to inspire future generations of Women’s Studies learners. The participants included alumni, friends, faculties, members of the alumni organizing committee, and students from various academic institutions.

Founded by the illustrious Dr. Neera Desai in 1974, a visionary and social reformer par excellence, the RCWS – the pioneering WS Centre in India – has been at the forefront of women's studies, embodying excellence and empowerment for five decades. Neera Ben visualized women's studies as a movement within the academia. Moreover, we are truly proud and feel privileged to have been nurtured and mentored by stalwarts of Women’s Studies such as Dr. Maithreyi Krishnaraj, Dr. Meera Kosambi, Dr. Veena Poonacha, and many others.

The RCWS is happy to host student interns for the AY 2023-2024.

The following students Ms. Pragati Shobha, Ms. Sejal Vishwakarma, Ms. Padmashree Kulkarni, Ms. Nimisha Chaudhari (M.A. English Literature, II Year students) have successfully completed their assignments at the RCWS under its Dr. Avabai Wadia Archives for Women project.

Experience of working as intern in RCWS under AWA by Ms. Pragati Shobha:
Working at the Research Centre for Women's Studies felt like dancing in a garden of unearthing, where each bloom was a story waiting to be told. Surrounded by the fragrance of knowledge and the gentle breeze of understanding, I found myself immersed in the nurturing embrace of passionate women. Together, we painted the canvas of gender equality with strokes of insight and empathy, weaving together threads of diverse experiences. In this sanctuary of learning every conversation was a melody, every discovery a dance of joy. Supported by the wisdom of mentors and the warmth of coordination, I found my voice echoing amidst the whispers of change. It wasn't just an internship; it was a journey of self-discovery, a celebration of resilience, and a testament to the beauty of collective empowerment.
