Crested Serpent Eagle
Scientific name: Spilornis cheela
Size: 55–75 cm (wingspan about 1.2–1.6 m)
Color: Dark brown body with a prominent black crest and yellow eyes and legs.
Call: Loud, high-pitched "kluee-kluee" cry often heard during flight.
Habitat: Forests, hilly regions, and near wetlands — common in places like Ranthambore National Park.
Diet: Mainly snakes, lizards, frogs, and small mammals (that’s why it’s called Serpent Eagle).
Behavior: Often seen perched high on trees, scanning for prey, or soaring in circles with broad wings spread wide.
