🚨 HELMET SAFETY FOR CHILDREN 🪖

Shillong Traffic Police (STP) continues its awareness and sensitisation efforts to promote safe travel for children on two-wheelers.

Despite these efforts, children are still being found travelling without protective helmets, putting their lives at serious risk.

Parents, guardians and riders are urged to strictly comply with Section 129 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and ensure that both rider and pillion rider, including children, wear helmets at all times.

⚠️ Violation attracts action under Section 194D, including a ₹1,000 fine and disqualification from holding a driving licence for 3 months.

No exemption or leniency will be shown where children are found travelling without helmets.

Protect our children. Make every ride a safe ride.

East Khasi Hills Police Felicitates Good Samaritans and Honours Traffic Personnel

The East Khasi Hills District Police felicitated Good Samaritans Shri Samborlang Diengdoh and Shri Anthony Nongkhlaw for their valuable support to the Shillong Traffic Police in promoting road safety and responsible road-user behaviour.

The ceremony also honoured 17 Traffic Personnel and 24 Home Guard Volunteers, including 12 female volunteers, for their dedication and outstanding service. Each awardee received a Certificate of Appreciation and cash incentive.

The Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, commended their professionalism and tireless efforts, and urged all personnel to remain courteous and respectful, while being firm, fair and impartial in enforcing traffic laws.

The ceremony reflects the shared commitment of the police and community towards safer roads, better traffic discipline and responsible road use.

₹14.23 lakh collected in fines

Today, 148 wrongly parked vehicles were clamped under Operation Free Flow. Every motorist was counselled and made aware of responsible parking before the clamp was removed. Fair enforcement. Better mobility. Shared responsibility ⚖️
