HISTORIC VICTORY OF SFI IN PONDICHERRY UNIVERSITY
The historic victory of SFI in the first phase of the Pondicherry University Students’ Council elections, followed by the second phase of elections, is a clear statement from the youth and Gen Z against the Sangh Parivar’s attempts to reshape education and against neoliberal policies that undermine public education..
The victory of SFI inside Pondicherry University cannot be viewed merely as an electoral result. It is a reflection of the political questions being raised by the youth against the existing system and the RSS led BJP government. This victory comes at a time when protests and grassroots movements against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) are gaining momentum across India.
From Jantar Mantar in Delhi to state capitals across the country, students and the general public are expressing their anger and resistance. The slogan “Gyanesh, it’s done bro” has emerged as a powerful expression of this growing dissent.
In this context, the victory of SFI in Pondicherry University and its affiliated colleges stands as a strong expression of solidarity from the student community with the wider struggle against SIR and Gyanesh Kumar.
