Q-Why Dimasa peoples are demanding to rename Silchar Railway Station as "Sahid Veer Sambhudhan Phonglo" Railway Station?
Ans- To protect and safeguard the history and identity of the ab-original Dimasa tribe, it is the fundamental duty of every citizen of Asom, Bharat, as well as the Government of Asom, Bharat to fulfil the long-outstanding and legitimate demand of the Dimasa people to rename Silchar Railway Station as “Sahid Veer Sambhudhan Phonglo" Railway Station.
This issue should neither become a political agenda nor be manipulated for political gain, as that would create division and polarization in the region. Instead, it is a matter of social justice, historical recognition, and fundamental rights.
Along with Sahid Veer Sambhudhan Phonglo, his close associates Man Singh Dimasa and Molongthong Dimasa also sacrificed their lives for India’s freedom. Many other Dimasa fighters who resisted British rule were martyred in the struggle against colonial oppression.
To support the government’s initiative in recognizing local heroes of the freedom movement and their struggle and to pay proper respect to the genuine martyrs, It is important to rename Silchar Railway Station as "Sahid Veer Sambhudhan Phonglo" Railway Station. Govt should take this Initiative and do the needful for the name change accordingly.
