# Farming Land.
# Farmers.
Place: Village: Dalughat; District: Cachar; State: Assam; PS: Borkhola.
Most of the Villagers in this locality are farmers, for a farmer his land meant to be like a mother who ensures farmer and his families Survival. Since many decades the entire villagers have been cultivating paddy in this area and due to the best quality of soil they were getting good crops.
But in the last few years situation became drastically changed due to illegal Brick kiln Industry growing in this area and damaging many acers of Agricultural land.
According to research in Tamil Nadu, India, found that following topsoil removal for brick production, soil manganese was reduced by 35% and zinc by 63%, and on average, topsoil removal resulted in a loss of about 28 kg of nitrogen, 3 kg of phosphorous and 34 kg of potash per hectare of land. This removal of topsoil was associated with a 124 kg per hectare (3%) reduction in rice yields and 62 kg per hectare (4%) reduction in groundnut yields (Kathuria and Balasubramanian 2013). So this Brick kiln Industry is a real thereat for this area.
Since last few years, Brick kiln Industry is growing like a cancer and destroying near by agriculture lands and Brick Mafias are forcing Farmers to sell their farming lands.
In-spite of many complains raised by the villagers to the Government authorities no action has been taken so far.
Here my concern is, In this largest democratic and Agriculture dominated country is this acceptable?
Please support this movement to save our beloved farmers.
