When a young boy or girl from the Northeast leaves home, they carry dreams in their hearts but often, they also carry an invisible fear.
Who will stand by me if I fall sick? Who will come if I meet with an accident? Who will help me if I am alone? And if the unthinkable happens… who will take me home?
These are questions no parent should have to live with. Yet, for countless families across the Northeast, they are painfully real.
This is why Helping Hands exists.
We are not just an NGO. We are a family away from home.
Day and night, our volunteers stand ready to answer distress calls, visit hospitals, support those in crisis, comfort frightened students and workers, help families during emergencies, and ensure that no one from the Northeast is left abandoned or forgotten.
The most heartbreaking moments are when a son or daughter leaves this world far away from home. When families cannot reach in time, we stand beside them with dignity and compassion. We ensure that every life is honoured, every farewell is respectful, and whenever possible, we help bring our brothers and sisters back to their homeland so they may rest among their loved ones.
No one should journey through life or leave this world alone.
To every person from the Northeast living anywhere in India or abroad, remember this:
You are never alone. Someone cares. Someone will come. Someone will stand beside you.
That is the promise of Helping Hands volunteers and members....
We will not abandon you ....
