*** Arrest and Recovery of Stolen Property by Siliguri Police ***
On 11.09.2026, a complaint was lodged at Bhorer Alo Police Station under the Siliguri Police Commissionerate regarding the disappearance of a consignment of 669 tea bags valued at ₹47,21,428. The consignment had been loaded onto a vehicle on 03.09.2026 for delivery to Rampuraphool, Bathinda, Punjab. However, neither the vehicle nor the consignment reached its destination within the expected transit period. From 09.09.2026 onwards, attempts to contact the drivers proved unsuccessful, as their mobile phones were found switched off.
Following a thorough investigation, the team of Bhorer Alo Police Station, led by the Investigating Officer, SI Manoj Kumar Roy, arrested two accused persons, Lalit Kumar and Basuki Kumar Mandal, from Bihar. The accused persons were subsequently remanded to eight days of police custody. During the remand period, acting on the statements and indications of the accused persons, the Investigating Officer recovered a total of 1,259 kg of tea from Bihar.
Further investigation is underway.
*** শিলিগুড়ি পুলিশের দ্বারা চোরাই মাল উদ্ধার ও গ্রেপ্তার***
১১.০৯.২০২৬ তারিখে, শিলিগুড়ি পুলিশ কমিশনারেটের অধীনস্থ ভোরের আলো থানায় ₹৪৭,২১,৪২৮ মূল্যের ৬৬৯টি চায়ের বস্তা সহ একটি চালান নিখোঁজ হওয়ার বিষয়ে একটি অভিযোগ দায়ের করা হয়। চায়ের বস্তা সহ চালানটি ০৩.০৯.২০২৬ তারিখে পাঞ্জাবের বাথিন্দার রামপুরাফুলে পৌঁছে দেওয়ার জন্য একটি গাড়িতে বোঝাই করা হয়েছিল। কিন্তু, নির্ধারিত সময়ের মধ্যে গাড়ি বা চালান কোনোটিই গন্তব্যে পৌঁছায়নি। ০৯.০৯.২০২৬ তারিখ থেকে চালকদের সাথে যোগাযোগের চেষ্টা ব্যর্থ হয়, কারণ তাদের মোবাইল ফোন বন্ধ পাওয়া যায়।
একটি পুঙ্খানুপুঙ্খ তদন্তের পর, তদন্তকারী কর্মকর্তা এসআই মনোজ কুমার রায়ের নেতৃত্বে ভোরের আলো থানার একটি দল বিহার থেকে ললিত কুমার এবং বাসুকি কুমার মণ্ডল নামে দুই অভিযুক্তকে গ্রেপ্তার করে। অভিযুক্তদের পরবর্তীকালে আট দিনের পুলিশি হেফাজতে পাঠানো হয়। রিমান্ড চলাকালীন, অভিযুক্ত ব্যক্তিদের জবানবন্দি ও ইঙ্গিতের ভিত্তিতে তদন্তকারী কর্মকর্তা বিহার থেকে মোট ১,২৫৯ কেজি চা উদ্ধার করেছেন।
