Big Relief for Kashmiri Apple growers: 6% commission won’t be charged

Srinagar, Sep 15: Much to the relief for the Apple fruit growers of Kashmir, there will be no deduction of 6 percent commission on apple boxes from the growers from now onwards.
“The commission will not be charged from a grower now. It will be now charged from a buyer,” official said.
It was said to be a long pending demand of the fruit growers that no 6 percent commission be deducted from them.
Talking to KNS, president of Kashmir Apple Merchants Association (K**A) Azadpur Delhi, Metha Ram Kirpani confirmed the development that from now onwards, the six percent commission won’t be charged from the grower. “The commission of six percent will be now charged from a buyer on the gross sale,” he said.
Kirpani said the commission will be deducted from the person who purchases the fruit in retail market.
“In case some fruit merchants from Azadpur Delhi deduct 6% from the grower, he can proceed to us and will be ensured to get the commission amount back,” he added. (KNS)

Congrats to the whole farming community of Kashmir, Gala RedLum planted last year was sold today for Rs 130/ per kg. It is the highest realisation that any apple variety from kashmir has got. Being in marketing from past 40 years, I believe Gala will change the way apple is grown in Kashmir. Congrats to the farmer for growing such wonderful fruits and also congrats to whole team of Root2Fruit for changing the apple plantations in kashmir valley. I am pretty sure high density apple with better varieties/management will change the future of this trade. Once again congrats to farming community of Kashmir.
