After Ahmedabad, Surat Airport is the second Airport in Gujarat to have Aerobridges facility for convenience of passengers. With the installation of 2 aerobridges in December 2015, the PPS & VDGS (Aerobridges) became operational from 31st March 2016. The passenger handling capacity has now increased to arriving PAX 150 per hour and departing PAX 150 per hour with peak hour capacity 500 PAX. The adjoining concrete apron measures 235 by 90 meters, and is linked by two taxiways to its sole runway that is oriented 04/22, is 2250 meters long and 45 meters wide which is going to be extended to 2905 meters till 2017. The airfield is equipped with night landing facilities and an Instrument Landing System (ILS) as well as navigational facilities like DVOR/DME.
