കെ ആർ മീരയുടെ 'കലാച്ചി' എന്റെ മേശപ്പുറത്ത് ഇരിക്കുന്നതേയുള്ളു; വായിക്കാൻ സമയം കിട്ടിയില്ല. ഹരിത ഗായത്രിയുടെ 'സിൻ' അക്കാദമി അവാർഡ് നേടിയപ്പോൾ വാങ്ങി വായിക്കണമെന്ന് ഉദ്ദേശിച്ചെങ്കിലും അതും നടന്നില്ല. അതുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ ആരാദ്യം എന്ന വിവാദം പ്രസക്തമാണോ എന്നും എങ്കിൽ ആരാണ് ശരി എന്നും അഭിപ്രായം പറയുന്നില്ല. കോപ്പിയടി വിവാദങ്ങൾ പുതിയതല്ലല്ലോ.
കെ ആർ മീര മികച്ച എഴുത്തുകാരിയാണ്. കലാച്ചിയിലെ വിചിത്ര വിശേഷങ്ങൾ കേട്ടപ്പോൾ അവരുടെ ജേർണലിസ്റ്റ് മനസ്സ് ഉണർന്നിട്ടുണ്ടാവാം, ആ സ്പാർക്ക് നോവലായി വികസിച്ചതുമാകാം. ഹരിത സാവിത്രിയെപ്പറ്റി വായിച്ചിടത്തോളം കലാപഭൂമിയിൽ പെട്ടുപോയ മനുഷ്യരുടെ ആകുലതകൾ അവരുടെ ക്രിയേറ്റിവിറ്റി ഉണർത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ടാവണം. പിന്നെ, ഒരു പുസ്തകം അല്ലെങ്കിൽ കഥയിൽ നിന്ന് ഒരു എഴുത്തുകാരൻ ഇൻസ്പിറേഷൻ എടുക്കുന്നെങ്കിൽ പ്രധാന പ്രതി വിശ്വസാഹിത്യത്തിലെ ഒന്നാമനായി മിക്കവരും കരുതുന്ന വില്യം ഷേക്‌സ്‌പിയർ തന്നെയാവും.
ഒരു പഴയ കഥ പറയട്ടെ. 1950 കളുടെ തുടക്കം. അമ്പലപ്പുഴയിലെ മജിസ്‌ട്രേറ്റ് ആയിരുന്നു ആട്ടറ പരമേശ്വരൻ പിള്ള. സംഗീത - സാഹിത്യ - സിനിമ കാര്യങ്ങളിൽ അതീവ തല്പരൻ. എഴുത്തിൽ തുടക്കക്കാരിയായ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മകൾ പി ആർ ശ്യാമള ഒരു ചെറുകഥ എഴുതി - 'മൂന്നാമത്തെ പൗർണമി'. കടപ്പുറത്തെ ഒരു പ്രേമമാണ് അതിന്റെ കോർ തീം. കഥ വായിക്കാനായി അദ്ദേഹം അത് തന്റെ സുഹൃത്തും കോടതിയിൽ പ്ലീഡറുമായിരുന്ന തകഴി ശിവശങ്കരപ്പിള്ളയ്ക്ക് കൊടുത്തു. 'തോട്ടിയുടെ മകനും' 'രണ്ടിടങ്ങഴി'യും ഉൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള നോവലുകളും ധാരാളം ചെറുകഥകളും എഴുതി മലയാള സാഹിത്യത്തിൽ റിയലിസവും ശക്തമായ സാമൂഹ്യ വിമർശനവും അവതരിപ്പിച്ച് തിളങ്ങി നിൽക്കുന്ന തകഴി കഥ വായിച്ചു. കഥ നന്നായിട്ടുണ്ട്, വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും എഴുതണം എന്ന് ഉപദേശിച്ചു.
അധികം താമസിയാതെ 1956ൽ ചെമ്മീൻ പുറത്തുവന്നു. കടപ്പുറത്തെ ഒരു പ്രേമമാണ് അടിസ്ഥാനപ്രമേയം. പക്ഷെ ഒരുപാട് മാനങ്ങളുള്ള മഹത്തായ ഒരു നോവൽ. പി ആർ ശ്യാമളയുടെ കഥയിൽ നിന്ന് കടപ്പുറത്തെ പ്രേമത്തിലേക്ക് നോക്കാൻ തകഴിക്ക് പ്രചോദനം കിട്ടിയോ? അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ഒരിക്കൽ മാത്രമേ കണ്ടിട്ടുള്ളു, നേരിട്ട് ഇക്കാര്യം ചോദിച്ചില്ല. തന്റെ കഥ ചെമ്മീൻ പോലൊരു സൃഷ്ടിക്ക് പ്രേരണ ആയോ എന്നറിയില്ലെങ്കിലും ആയെങ്കിൽ സന്തോഷം എന്ന് പി ആർ ശ്യാമള (എന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഉഷയുടെ വലിയമ്മ) നേരിട്ട് പറഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ട്; മറ്റാരോടെങ്കിലും അവർ ഇക്കാര്യം പങ്കുവച്ചതായി അറിവില്ല.
