Team CDOH Showcases Indigenous Geospatial Innovations at BRICS Platform
Team CDOH, ICFOSS, had the exciting opportunity to participate in the Geospatial Innovation Showcase and Exhibition held as part of the Fifth Meeting of the BRICS Working Group on Geospatial Technologies and its Applications, hosted by IIT Tirupati Navavishkar I-Hub Foundation (IITTNiF) from 20โ22 July 2026 at IIT Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
The exhibition was a remarkable platform for Team ICFOSS to showcase its innovative research, prototypes, products, and software solutions before delegates and officials from BRICS member countries. The encouraging response and interest received from the distinguished guests made the experience truly special for the team.
As part of the workshop and exhibition, Team CDOH showcased its NavIC-enabled Air Quality Monitoring Device and Multipurpose Open Drone, highlighting ongoing work in open IoT, environmental monitoring, geospatial technologies, and indigenous hardware development.
The NavIC-enabled Air Quality Monitoring Device is a cost-effective and indigenous solution for city-level pollution mapping. It measures particulate matter such as PM1, PM2.5, and PM10, and uses NavIC-based geotagging to map air quality data with location information. The moving AQI device can be mounted on public transport vehicles to cover larger urban areas with fewer devices, while using LoRaWAN for low-power, long-range data transmission.
The Multipurpose Open Drone is an open hardware UAV platform designed for applications such as mapping, surveillance, disaster response, payload delivery, environmental monitoring, and geospatial data collection. The platform focuses on indigenous development, flexibility, and NavIC-based navigation support for real-world field applications.
The team also had the privilege to interact with distinguished guests and officials, and presented the major activities of CDOH to Prof. Roshan Srivastav, Project Director, IITTNiF, and Head, Geospatial Intelligence and Applications (Geo-Intel) Laboratory.
