Government of India has enacted the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act 2016.

Under this Act, Government of Kerala established Kerala Real Estate Regulatory Authority.

കേരളത്തിലെ റിയല്‍ എസ്‌റ്റേറ്റ് മേഖലയില്‍ സുതാര്യത ഉറപ്പാക്കിക്കൊണ്ട് കേരള റിയല്‍ എസ്‌റ്റേറ്റ് റെഗുലേറ്ററി അതോറിറ്റി (കെ-റെറ) അഞ്ചു വര്‍ഷം പിന്നിടുകയാണ്. കെ-റെറയില്‍ ഇതു വരെ 1420 റിയല്‍ എസ്റ്റേറ്റ് പ്രൊജക്റ്റുകളും 778 ഏജന്‌റുമാരും രജിസ്റ്റര്‍ ചെയ്തു. ഫ്‌ളാറ്റുകളും വില്ലകളും പ്ലോട്ടുകളുമായി ആകെ 70953 റസിഡന്‍ഷ്യല്‍ യൂണിറ്റുകളാണ് രജിസ്റ്റര്‍ ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ളത്- അതായത് 70953 കുടുംബങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് റെറ നിയമത്തിന്‌റെ പരിരക്ഷ കിട്ടിക്കഴിഞ്ഞു. കെ-റെറയില്‍ ആകെ വന്ന 2052 പരാതികളില്‍ 1640 എണ്ണവും തീര്‍പ്പാക്കാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞു. ഏതാണ്ട് 80% പരാതികളും തീര്‍പ്പാക്കി എന്നര്‍ഥം.
