Civil Defence Tura

A one day Training program on School safety and a Mock drill on Earthquake was conducted on 27.04.2023 at Sewa Inland Mission School, Rongram, West Garo Hills

Clearance of a tree which was posing a threat to life and property was done by the SDRF ,Tura in collaboration with the Forest Department and MeECL at Police Reserve Compound, Tura on 05.01.2023

As the restoration of power in Tura and adjoining areas was a priority following the devastating cyclone , the SDRF were deployed to aid the MeECL department in the clearance of obstacles and restoration of power supply on 26.10.2022 and 27.10.2022

Following the cyclone ,several houses were affected by uprooted trees which had fallen on top of residential houses, thereby posing a threat to life and property. The SDRF personnel were deployed in such instances to clear the trees which were posing a threat and remove any and all such hazards.

In the aftermath of the cyclone Sitrang on 25.10.2022 ,SDRF personnel were engaged in clearing trees which had fallen on the road near the office of The Deputy Controller of Civil Defence and was blocking the road and restricting vehicular movements

SDRF personnel engaged in clearing the trees which had fallen and blocked the main gate of Tura Circuit house during cyclone Sitrang on 24.10.2022

One day training on disaster management and mock drill was organised by Montfort School, Tura on 28.09.2022 and was jointly conducted by the offices of the DDMA,West Garo Hills,Tura, Civil Defence,Tura and Fire and Emergency Services,Tura

Civil Defence ,Tura and SDRF conducted sessions on disaster management on 23.09.2022 during the weeklong NCC training Camp which was held from 21.09.2022 to 28.09.2022 at 2nd Battallion, Meghalaya Police, Goeragre which saw the active participation of NCC cadets from all over Garo Hills.

SDRF personnel undertook an operation to clear part of a tree near DRDA office ,DC Office Complex, Tura on 17.09.2022 which had grown precariously close to the building and was causing considerable damage to the property.

A One day disaster management Program with an emphasis on earthquake was organised by the faculty and staff of Government Boys Higher Secondary School ,Tura at the school premises on 09.09.2022.The program was also attended by Shri D.B.G.Momin, MCS, Addl.DC and CEO,DDMA,West Garo Hills and the trainings were conducted by the office of the Deputy Controller of Civil Defence,Tura and SDRF ,Tura. Following the training program ,a mock drill and a demonstration on Rescue from heights was also conducted.

The SDRF personnel stationed at Tura were engaged in clearing trees which had fallen on residential houses on 01.09.2022 at two separate incident sites viz. near Mason Philips Academy ,Mission Compound and at Burny Hills, Tura, which were causing a threat to the lives of the families staying there and also caused considerable damage to property.

The Honble' Director General of Civil Defence and Home Guards, Meghalaya, Shillong, Smti I Nongrang, IPS accompanied by Shri M.K.Sangma, Joint Director of Civil Defence , Meghalaya, Shillong visited and inspected the offices of the Divisional Commandants of Home Guards, District Home Guards Commandants and Deputy Controllers of Civil Defence in the Western Range of the State w.e.f. 24-26 August 2022. During her visit, the Director General also inspected the SDRF camp headquartered at Tura and also further inspected the land which has been allotted to the Department at Ampati.
