The State Council of Science Technology & Environment (SCSTE), Meghalaya, Tura office is situated at Dakopgre, Tura and act as the regional office for coordination of schemes/programmes of the Council for the Garo hills regions of the state.

The inaugural session for "crash tuition in Mathematics & Science" for the upcoming MBOSE - SSLC students 2023 was held on 9th January in all the 48 centers of Garo Hills. The Principals of the respective centers inaugurated the crash tuition where parents of the students registered were also present. Mathematics and Science Ambassadors of the state are engaged in the crash tuition till the end of February.

The 10 days training on fruit/food processing (3rd batch) was organised for participants from East Garo Hills District from the 2nd December to 15th December 2022. The training was held at Bolmoram Technology Resource Centre cm Knowledge and Innovation Park, Bolmoram Agalgre, from East Garo Hills district and funded by Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS), Government of Meghalaya under the Skills Meghalaya scheme.
The participants numbering altogether 12 of them will be supported by SCSTE through technical handholding and also facilitate the certification and marketing linkages of their products.

Startup tools were also distributed to all the participants (39 participants) of the three (3) batches that attended the food/fruit processing training at Bolmoram TRC.

The 10 days training on fruit/food processing was organised for participants from Rongjeng C &RD Block from the 7th November to 18th November 2022. The training was held at Bolmoram Technology Resource Centre cm Knowledge and Innovation Park, Bolmoram Agalgre, Songsak C&RD Block, East Garo Hills district and funded by Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS), Government of Meghalaya under the Skills Meghalaya scheme.
This is the 2nd batch of participants numbering altogether 12 of them. Subsequently, the participants will be supported by SCSTE through technical handholding and also facilitate the certification and marketing linkages of their products.

The State Council of Science, Technology & Environment (SCSTE), Meghalaya, as part of its technology propagation initiative, recently installed a 500L rain water harvesting unit and a sanitation/toilet unit at the Collective Marketing centre (CMC) under the IVCS located at Upper Wategre village, Tikrikilla C&RD Block, West Garo Hills district.
The technologies installed were handed over to the members of the Integrated village cooperative society (IVCS) where the technologies will act as demonstration units for the surrounding community.

The two Days "State level Children's Science Congress" as part of the "30th National Children's Science Congress 2022 - 2023" was organised by SCSTE, Meghalaya in collaboration with Shillong College, Shillong on the 3rd and 4th November 2022 at Shillong College Auditorium, Shillong.
Eight best projects have been selected to represent the state in the national level to be held from the 27th to 31st January 2023 at Science city, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The Science congress was inaugurated by Shri B. D. R. Tiwari, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary, Education Department, Government of Meghalaya, in the presence of Dr. Joram Beda, IAS, Member Secretary, SCSTE, Dr. (Mrs.) E. Kharkongor, Principal, Shillong College and Shri A. S. Suting, OSD, SCSTE and other officials.
A total of 20 schools from the Garo Hills region participated in this State level Science Congress. These 20 schools that participated had been selected from the different C&RD Blocks and districts of Garo Hills during the Block and district level Science Congress held earlier.
Two school teams from the Garo Hills region namely Ashugre Deficit U.P. School, Gambegre C&RD Block, West Garo Hills (Junior category) and Tura Town Bengalee Higher Secondary School, Tura, West Garo Hills (Senior Category) has been selected to represent the state at the National level.

The training was held at Bolmoram Technology Resource Centre cm Knowledge and Innovation Park, Bolmoram Agalgre, Songsak C&RD Block, East Garo Hills district and funded by Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS), Government of Meghalaya under the Skills Meghalaya scheme.

Altogether, 15 participants were selected from Songsak C&RD Block, East Garo Hills district to attend the training. Following the training, the 15 beneficiaries will be supported by SCSTE through technical handholding and facilitate certification and marketing linkages of their products.

A three days training cm installation of one unit of Biogas Bio-digester was organised by SCSTE, Meghalaya in collaboration with India Sistema Bio, Maharastra from the 2nd to 4th November 2022 at Upper Nongbak Apal village, Dambo Rongjeng C&RD Block, East Garo Hills district.
The biodigester unit installed is part of the initiative of SCSTE to propagate and sensitize the rural community towards a clean and renewable source of energy. The biogas in the unit will be generated with the use of pig manure that is readily available in the community farm. The unit has been handed over to the Common Facility Centre (CFC) under SCSTE.

The 3 - months 'Coaching Classes for job Aspirants' which was organised by SCSTE, Meghalaya in collaboration with Mendipathar College, Mendipathar, North Garo Hills District concluded on the 22nd October 2022 at Mendipathar college. Altogether, 80 youths and students registered for the 3 months coaching classes.

The Children Science Congress (CSC) is currently being organised with the collaboration of the District Planning office and the Block Development Office at the District/Block levels throughout the C&RD blocks and at the five districts of the Garo Hills region of Meghalaya.
The CSC programme was organised at Tura, West Garo Hills district on the 12th October 2022 followed by Williamnagar, East Garo Hill district on the 14th October 2022. This will be followed by others districts/ blocks. Numerous schools participated in the programme and few were/will be selected to take part in the State level CSC.

An awareness cm demonstration programme was organised by SCSTE Meghalaya on the 11th October 2022 at the Common Facility centre (CFC), Upper Nongbak Apal Village, Dambo Rongjeng C &RD block, East Garo Hills district. The programme is part of the initiative of setting up a model village at Upper Nongbak Apal by strengthening the sustainability pillars of livelihood, infrastructure and services in the village through S & T intervention.
During the programme, two technologies viz. the biomass geyser and the Duksh chulla were disseminated and propagated to the beneficiaries of the village.
