Adwaya is an initiative supported by few volunteers in collaboration with Surabhi Foundation Trust. The founders include a bunch of young working professionals, who came together through the well-known social media Facebook. We met these adorable children for the first time, during the 2012’s Diwali celebrations held at their children home, and we instantly fell in love with them! We gradually started to make regular visits to this place to help them with their studies. Over the period of time, our interaction with these children made us realize the need to get more involved than just spending our weekends with them. We decided to work closely with them on the health, hygiene and educational fronts. A bigger opportunity was made available to us when the program run by the government was abruptly discontinued. Volunteers pitched in to partner with Surabhi Foundation and continue this program with the existing kids. We realized this is a unique endeavor and decided to name this program as ‘Adwaya’ which means unique in Kannada. Our vision is to create a society where these children would grow up and help others. So, Adwaya is not a project to take care of just 25 kids. It is in fact a project to change a generation! Our goals are big. Our dreams are even bigger. And we need your support for this. All of us have a potential to bring a change by doing small acts of random kindness (ARK) every day. Here are the various ways through which you can make a difference:
• Making monthly contributions for groceries and maintenance (any amount between 500 to 1000/-)
• Sponsoring a Sunday special lunch
• Sponsoring monthly toothpaste, soaps, brushes
• Sponsoring food items for a month/week (Eg: Milk for a week/month; Rice for a month etc)
• Making a one-time contribution to support the infrastructure, kids basic needs (list will be provided to choose from)
• Catering to the health expenses for a month
• Sponsoring a kid’s birthday
• Spending some meaningful time with children by helping them in academics or teaching them extra-curricular activities like dance, art, music, etc.
• Taking the children out on a trip
