The Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi, organised a special lecture on Meteorology and Its Importance in Mountaineering delivered by ๐๐ซ๐จ๐Ÿ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐จ๐ซ (๐ƒ๐ซ) ๐๐š๐œ๐ก๐š๐ง ๐‹๐š๐ฅ , Head of the Department of Geography and Principal-in-Charge, Government PG College, Uttarkashi.

The lecture highlighted the importance of meteorological knowledge in mountaineering, particularly in understanding weather patterns, anticipating changing weather conditions and enhancing safety during high-altitude expeditions.

A total of 133 trainees, comprising 295 Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC) trainees and 33 Method of Instruction (MOI) course trainees, attended the lecture and benefited from this valuable academic session.

Through such expert lectures, NIM continues to strengthen the scientific understanding, technical knowledge and safety awareness of its trainees, preparing them for the challenges of mountaineering in the Himalaya.

Sport Climbing Competition Concludes Successfully at NIM Uttarkashi | Chief Minister Championship Trophy 2026

The Sport Climbing Competition, organized at the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM), Uttarkashi, as part of the prestigious Chief Minister Championship Trophy 2026, concluded successfully with great enthusiasm, sporting spirit and participation of athletes from various districts of Uttarakhand.

The Closing Ceremony was graced by Sh. Bhupendra Singh Chauhan, Chairman, Nagar Palika Uttarkashi, as the Chief Guest. He appreciated the efforts of all participants and commended their enthusiasm, dedication and motivation to take part in this challenging sporting event.

The competition provided an excellent platform for participants to demonstrate their climbing skills, physical fitness, agility, endurance and determination, while promoting sport climbing and adventure sports among the youth.

The spirit of adventure, determination and sporting excellence comes alive at the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM), Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, as the Sport Climbing Competition under the Chief Minister Championship Trophy was organized at the institute.

Participants from several districts of Uttarakhand took part in this exciting sporting event, showcasing their climbing skills, strength, endurance, agility and determination. The competition highlights the growing popularity of sport climbing and adventure sports in Uttarakhand, while encouraging young athletes to push their limits and strive for excellence.

The Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC) 294 at the NIM Uttarkashi, concluded successfully, marking the completion of a challenging and enriching mountaineering training journey.

A total of 107 trainees reported for the course, of whom 99 successfully completed the training, demonstrating determination, discipline, teamwork and a strong spirit of adventure.

Through intensive training in challenging mountain terrain, the trainees developed essential mountaineering skills, physical endurance, confidence and the ability to work effectively as a team in demanding Himalayan conditions.

The Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM), Uttarkashi, successfully concluded Advance Mountaineering Course (AMC) 184, with 50 out of 54 trainees successfully completing the course.

As part of this rigorous high-altitude mountaineering training, the trainees underwent intensive practical sessions in Rock Climbing, Rappelling, River Crossing, Camping, Snow Craft and Ice Craft, developing essential technical skills, endurance, teamwork and leadership qualities required for challenging mountain expeditions.

๐’๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ ๐€๐ญ๐ญ๐ž๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ญ โ€“ ๐Œ๐ญ. ๐ƒ๐Š๐ƒ-๐Ÿ (๐Ÿ“,๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ๐Ÿ– ๐ฆ)
As a significant part of the course, a team comprising three instructors and the Medical Officer attempted the summit of
Mt. DKD-1. The team successfully reached an altitude of 5,560 metres, just 158 metres short of the summit. However, due to heavy snowfall and challenging weather conditions, the summit push had to be called off, prioritising the safety of all team members.

The expedition reflects the spirit of mountaineeringโ€”perseverance, sound judgement, teamwork and respect for the mountains. Every climb is a learning experience, and safety remains the highest priority in high-altitude operations.

Team Building & Leadership Adventure Camp for NCC Cadets Concludes at NIM, Uttarkashi

The Team Building and Leadership Adventure Camp for Cadets has successfully concluded at the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM), Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, providing cadets with an enriching experience in adventure, teamwork and leadership.

During the camp, cadets participated in a range of adventure-based activities, including team-building exercises, camping, trekking, river crossing etc. They also performed Swacchhta Activities promotion Swacchata Hi Sewa campaign.

These activities helped them develop leadership qualities, strengthen team spirit, enhance confidence, and learn the importance of coordination, discipline and mutual trust.

The camp offered a valuable opportunity for NCC cadets to step beyond their comfort zones, embrace outdoor challenges, and cultivate the resilience and decision-making skills essential for future leaders.

Through such experiential learning programmes, NIM continues to promote adventure education, leadership development, team building and outdoor training, contributing to the holistic development of young people and the spirit of Unity, Discipline and Service.
