Powering progress with enhanced grid reliability! ⚡
APTRANSCO has successfully completed the capacity augmentation of Power Transformers at the 220 kV Substation, Samarlkot.
Key Highlights:
Upgraded capacity from 2×160 + 1×100 MVA to 3×160 MVA by replacing the existing 100 MVA unit with a new 160 MVA transformer.
Transformer loading reduced from 87.9% to 77.8%, ensuring better efficiency and system stability.
Successfully idle charged on 13-09-2026 and loaded on 15-09-2026.
This augmentation strengthens contingency support for neighboring substations at Kakinada, Ramavaram, and Bommuru, while catering to future energy demand growth across the region.

Major milestone in strengthening Andhra Pradesh's transmission backbone! ⚡
APTRANSCO achieves a significant breakthrough with the capacity augmentation at the 400 kV Substation, Kalapaka.
Key Project Highlights:
Capacity Boost: Added an additional 500 MVA ICT, elevating the total substation capacity from 945 MVA (3×315 MVA) to 1,445 MVA (3×315 + 1×500 MVA).
Load Reduction: Successfully reduced the loading on ICTs at Gajuwaka_PG from 82% to 68.9%.
Operational Milestones: Idle charged on 09-09-2026 and fully loaded on 11-09-2026, handling an initial load of 265 MW (279 MVA), operating comfortably at 56% capacity.
Economic & Grid Value: Delivered substantial cost savings for APTRANSCO by averting PGCIL augmentation and associated charges, while reinforcing contingency resilience across Kalapaka SS and Gajuwaka-PG.
