The Department of Dairy Technology, Verghese Kurien Institute of Dairy and Food Technology organized a three-day hands-on training programme, *Palarivu' 26* on “Preparation of Value Added Dairy Products” from 5th to 7th May 2026 at VKIDFT, Mannuthy, in association with the final year B.Tech Dairy Technology (2022 batch) students. A total of 33 participants attended the programme.
The training programme comprised both theoretical and practical sessions on the preparation and processing technology of various dairy products including yoghurt, curd, ghee, butter, cream, paneer and peda. Most of the sessions were effectively handled by the students under the guidance of the faculty members of the Department of Dairy Technology. Interactive question-and-answer sessions were also conducted with the faculty members to clarify the doubts of participants regarding dairy processing, product quality and entrepreneurship opportunities.
To evaluate the effectiveness of the programme, the participants underwent pre-training and post-training assessments. During the valedictory session, the participants expressed their satisfaction and appreciation for the efforts of the students and faculty members. They opined that the training programme provided valuable practical exposure and enhanced their understanding of milk and milk product technology, along with insights into commercialization strategies for value-added dairy products.
Certificates and a handbook on value-added milk products were distributed to all participants upon successful completion of the training programme. 12/05/2026
