🧘♀️ Yoga for Inner Harmony, Sustainability for a Better Planet

As part of the lead-up to the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026, the Embassy of India in Baghdad organized a promotional event on 3 June 2026 at the Renewable Energy and Sustainability Center, Baghdad. The yoga session was led by Embassy instructor Ms. Noor Younis.

The event brought together two powerful pathways toward a common goal—a better world. While yoga nurtures inner well-being, renewable energy and sustainable practices help protect our planet for future generations.

Ambassador Soumen Bagchi and Mr. Mohammad Shakir Al-Dulaimi, CEO of the Center, joined participants after the yoga session. As a global pioneer in solar and renewable energy, Ambassador conveyed India’s willingness to collaborate with the Center in advancing its sustainability goals.

Inspired by this year's theme, “Yoga for Wellness, Wisdom and World Peace,” the event highlighted a simple yet powerful message: a sustainable future begins with balanced minds, responsible actions, and collective commitment.

Yoga Meets Music: Promotional Event at School of Music & Ballet, Baghdad 🎶🧘♀️

A special promotional event for the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026 was organized by the Embassy of India in Baghdad at the School of Music and Ballet, Ministry of Culture, Baghdad.

Students of the school participated in the yoga session, which was led by Embassy instructor Dr. Sura Al-Jabouri. Ambassador Soumen Bagchi, Dr. Faiz Salem, DG Ministry of Culture and Director of the school joined the gathering after the session. A short violin recital was given by a student.

The Embassy extends its sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities and the administration of the School of Music and Ballet for their cooperation and hospitality.

Reflecting the spirit of this year’s theme “Yoga for Wellness, Wisdom and World Peace”, the event celebrated the harmony of body, mind, art, and culture.

Joy, positivity, and vibrant energy filled the atmosphere as the Embassy of India in Baghdad organized a promotional event for at the Ministry of Oil Cultural Centre on 24 May 2026.

The special yoga session brought together employees of the Ministry of Oil, with many expressing eagerness to join the main International Day of Yoga celebrations at the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The Embassy sincerely appreciates the hospitality and support extended by the Ministry of Oil in making this event a memorable success.

The spirit of wellness, discipline, and unity came alive in Baghdad during a special pre- yoga promotion event organized by the Embassy of India in collaboration with the Asif Family Academy (أكاديمية عائلة آصف).

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from martial arts practitioners, trainers, and fitness enthusiasts.

Participants highlighted the deep connection between yoga, martial arts, mental focus, and holistic well-being, while reaffirming their commitment to integrating yoga into their daily lives.

تجلّت روح العافية و الانضباط و الإتحاد في بغداد خلال فعالية ترويجية خاصة لليوغا قبل اليوم العالمي لليوغا 2026، نظمتها السفارة الهندية بالتعاون مع أكاديمية عائلة آصف.

وشهدت الفعالية مشاركة واسعة من ممارسي فنون الدفاع عن النفس والمدربين وهواة اللياقة البدنية.

وأكد المشاركون على العلاقة الوثيقة بين اليوغا وفنون الدفاع عن النفس والتركيز الذهني والصحة الشاملة، مع تأكيد التزامهم بدمج اليوغا في حياتهم اليومية.

وتماشياً مع شعار اليوم العالمي لليوغا لهذا العام "اليوغا من أجل العافية والحكمة والسلام العالمي"، عززت الفعالية التناغم بين الجسد والعقل والروح، ورسخت القيم المشتركة للسلام والحياة الصحية.

On 19 May 2026, Ambassador Soumen Bagchi along with Embassy officials paid an on-site visit to the Karbala Refineries in Karbala. The delegation was received by the Director of the Refinery, Engineer Haider Sharif Mohammed, and other officials. During the visit Ambassador also interacted with Indian nationals employed at the refinery.

Ambassador Soumen Bagchi visited the Holy Shrine of Imam Abbas at Karbala. He was welcomed by Dr. Afdal Al-Shami, Member of Board of Directors of the Shrine administration and Mr. Muhammad Ali Azhar Al-Shammari, head of the Public Relations Department.
