Is it just me or did everyone suddenly decide to visit Paris and/or London this year? What do you see whenever you’ve opened their posts/stories? You see an elegantly decorated city perhaps. But did you zoom in to their pictures and notice the crippling facade? Or perhaps observe the difference in the social classes? Well, George Orwell- the author of ‘Animal Farm’ and ‘1984’- will enlighten your darkness and expose the true side of the cities in this first full-length work, ‘Down and Out in Paris and London’ . “It is a memoir in two parts on the theme of poverty in the two cities. Its target audience was the middle- and upper-class members of society—those who were more likely to be well educated—and exposes the poverty existing in two prosperous cities: Paris and London.”- Summary from Wikipedia. This book is rated 4.08 on Goodreads. If you live in Erbil, you can purchase this book at .erbil.

The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
~~~~
There are many who have read The Bell Jar and absolutely loved it. I am gladly considering myself one of them. I was a little caught of guard when I read a few
reviews of The Bell Jar comparing it to The Catcher in the Rye stating how it's the female version of it. I liked Catcher but I know there are many people who didn't
and upon hearing that may be similar to Catcher not have the desire to read it. I assure you, The Bell Jar is a book all on it's own and should not be compared to
any other book.. even as a compliment.
When I first started reading the book I was a little put off, feeling it was an extremely pretensious novel. Her descriptions were crisp and precise, often using words
that one rarely hears spoken or even read. I went into the novel knowing that Plath was a poet and felt that at first the book was just another form…
Hamnet
by Maggie O'Farrell
----
A New York Times Notable Book (2020) Best Book of 2020: Guardian, Financial Times, Literary Hub, and NPR Drawing on Maggie 'Farrell's long-term
fascination with the little-known story behind Shakespeare's most enigmatic play, HAMNET is a luminous portrait of a marriage, at its heart the loss of a beloved
child. Warwickshire in the 1580s. Agnes is a woman as feared as she is sought after for her unusual gifts. She settles with her husband in Henley street,
Stratford, and has three children: a daughter, Susanna, and then twins, Hamnet and Judith. The boy, Hamnet, dies in 1596, aged eleven. Four years or so later,
the husband writes a play called Hamlet. Award-winning author Maggie 'Farrell's new novel breathes full-blooded life into the story of a loss usually consigned
to literary footnotes, and provides an unforgettable vindication of Agnes, a woman intriguingly absent from history.
