Yesterday, The Office of the Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Daryl Caudle and Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy John Perryman visited NAS Sigonella and saw firsthand how Sailors across “The Hub of the Med” contribute to projecting power, ensuring security, and maintaining stability throughout the region.

NCTS Sicily Sailors joined Teammates from across the installation for an All-Hands Call with our Navy’s senior leadership, reinforcing the important role our Sailors play every day in enabling command and control, connecting the force, and supporting U.S., allied, and partner operations throughout the theater.

We were especially proud to see our N9 DLPO ET1 Kyle C. Wastradowski recognized with an award from the CNO for his outstanding performance and contributions to our mission.

His recognition reflects both his individual excellence and the caliber of Sailors representing NCTS Sicily every day — congrats, ET1!

This morning in Cassibile, teammates from NCTS Sicily, CTF-67, and Naval Air Station Sigonella joined Italian military and civic leaders to commemorate the 1943 Armistice of Cassibile.

The morning began at the Kakiparis Community Center with a presentation and an exhibition of World War II historical memorabilia, followed by a short walk to the Mother Church of Cassibile, where the memorial stands. Local authorities offered remarks, and a wreath was laid in remembrance.

Eighty-three years later, standing at that memorial alongside our Italian hosts is a reminder that a shared history became a lasting partnership.

Congratulations to our newly selected Chief Petty Officers!

On July 10, 1943, paratroopers from the U.S. 82nd Airborne Division descended into the fiercely defended Ponte Dirillo pass with a mission that would prove pivotal to the success of Operation Husky—the Allied invasion of Sicily that opened the Southern European front during World War II.

Facing determined resistance from German pillboxes and Italian bunkers, the paratroopers seized the strategically important bridge, preventing Axis reinforcements from reaching the invasion beaches and helping secure a critical foothold for the Allied advance.

This year, personnel from , NCTS Sicily, and the U.S. NATO Army element at Sigonella joined our Italian partners, U.S. Consulate General Naples guest speaker Terrence Flynn, and distinguished guests at the Ponte Dirillo monument to commemorate the courage and sacrifice of the paratroopers who fought on this historic battlefield.

📷 Thank you, AFN Sigonella, for capturing the event!
