Come tale, essa combina la semplicità classica in linea con una suprema eleganza formale, che ci ricordano ancora oggi la grandezza di questa villa storica e di prestigio. Grande cura è stata riposta nel corso dei lavori dell'ultimo restauro per conservare tutte le sue caratteristiche di design originali, come i pavimenti in cotto, soffitti in piastrelle / travi a vista, archi in mattoni, grandi camini, pareti bianche, le scale tradizionali a 'loggia' (terrazzo porticato), archi splendidi, colonne, capitelli e decorazioni ad affresco. Ove possibile, sono stati usati materiali eco-friendly, altri materiali da costruzione tipicamente toscani sono stati utilizzati sia per la struttura che per gli arredi, tra cui pietra, terracotta, marmo, legno scuro e suppellettili artigianali in ferro battuto. SISTEMAZIONE: Questa villa a tre piani si estende su 1300 metri quadrati, sulle colline della lucchesia. Piano terra: questo è composto da un salone di 70 metri quadrati, con una attraente zona colazione, una seconda stanza con un grande camino centrale, in stile rustico, cucina completamente attrezzata con forno a legna, una lavanderia e tre camere da letto. Una di queste è ospitata nella ex cantina, mentre un'altra è il vecchio negozio per la vendita dell'olio ora convertito. Primo piano: questa accoglie l'aristocratica zona giorno, che include un maestoso salone (150 mq), dove l'originale camino in pietra si trova in un posto d'onore, al centro della grande sala. Da qui, porte-finestre si aprono sulla bella 'loggia', una terrazza porticata con un soffitto parzialmente affrescato, che si affaccia sugli oliveti e boschi nella parte posteriore della casa. Su questo piano si trova anche un altro soggiorno, uno studio ed un bagno. Un ulteriore spazio è situato nella torre-room, anche qui con il suo camino originale ed un superbo soffitto con pavimenti in legno magnificamente conservati. Secondo piano: il piano superiore ospita una vasta sala, con alti soffitti e travi in legno. Anche in questo caso il grande camino antico costituisce un punto focale. In aggiunta, ci sono sei camere da letto, una anche con camino. Tutte dispongono di bagno privato ed alcuni dei loro bagni privati incorporare una doccia o vasca idromassaggio. All'ultimo piano spettacolare vista sulla campagna incontaminata circostante. Per completare l'elegante e storica cornice, la villa è stata arredata con mobili antichi semplici ma di alta qualità in stile tradizionale. La TV satellitare è disponibile nelle sale principali. Riscaldamento a pavimento è incorporato in tutta la villa, con l'eccezione della torre-room, dove ci sono radiatori normali. IL GIARDINO E DINTORNI AMBIENTE: La villa si trova in ampi terreni, che includono un boschetto delizioso con piante di ulivi, e come tale offre un tranquillo rifugio. Vi è un ampio parcheggio sul piazzale di ghiaia, da dove una doppia rampa di scale, procede al primo piano dell'abitazione. Una delle risorse più significative della struttura è nella zona posteriore, una superba 'loggia', dove cinque stupende arcate aperte si affacciano sul verde rilassante dei giardini, vigneti e colline circostanti. Questo è senza dubbio il luogo ideale per soffermarsi per un aperitivo o gustare un pasto all'aperto, all'ombra del soffitto affrescato. In un angolo del parco, su un prato/terrazza nella parte posteriore della villa, si trova una seconda piscina, in pietra.Anche da qui si vanta una splendida vistai, salvaguardando i bagnanti che a bordo piscina sono garantiti da totale privacy. A lato della villa c'è un ampio terrazzo di ghiaia, circondata da prati e ombreggiato da alberi ad alto fusto e un pergolato coperto da una vite abbondantemente, è arredata con tavoli, sedie e ombrelloni, offrendo così un altro luogo idilliaco per attività ricreative all'aperto. STORIA: La villa è stata abitata fin dal V - VI secolo, come testimoniano i resti di una torre risalente al periodo longobardo. Nel X - XI secolo, una torre ulteriore è stata aggiunta, circondata da vari altri edifici esterni. La villa di oggi, tuttavia, deve il suo aspetto finale durante il XV - XVI secolo, quando è stata completamente ristrutturata, in vista del matrimonio sontuoso tra i membri della famiglia Mansi e Menocchi, due delle dinastie più ricche e influenti nobili di Lucca. This luxurious, aristocratic villa, once known as Mansi-Menocchi, after two of the area’s most noble families, nestles against a hill in Lucchesia, Cappella di Lucca, in the very heart of the countryside and yet only fifteen minutes away from Lucca town centre. The property’s architectural style is a stunning example of the distinctive ‘Villa Lucchese’ design, as classified and recorded in 1500 by Samminiati, a local architect of great renown. As such, it combines classical simplicity of line with supreme formal elegance, which remind us even today of the villa’s historic grandeur and prestige. Great care was taken during the latest restoration work to preserve all its original design features, such as the terracotta-tiled floors; tiled/beamed ceilings; internal brick archways; large fireplaces with chimneys; white-washed walls; the traditional downstairs ‘loggia’ (a porticoed terrace), with its splendid arches, columns, capitals and fresco-decorations; as well as the spacious 16th century partitioning of the rooms. Wherever possible, natural, eco-friendly, typically Tuscan building materials were used for both the structure and furnishings, including stonework, terracotta, marble, dark wood and hand-crafted wrought-iron. ACCOMMODATION: This three-storey villa extends over 1300 square metres and, being built into a hillside, the floors work on split levels. Ground floor: This comprises one hall measuring 70 square metres, featuring an attractive, brick-vaulted/wood-beamed ceiling, and a second with a large central fireplace; a rustic-style, fully-fitted kitchen with wood-burning oven; a laundry; and three bedrooms. One of these is housed in the former wine-cellar, while another is the converted olive-oil store. First floor: This accommodates the former aristocratic daytime-quarters, which include a majestic living-room (150 square metres), where the original central stone fireplace stills stands in pride of place. From here, French windows open on to the beautiful ‘loggia’, a porticoed terrace with a partially frescoed ceiling, that looks out over the olive groves and woods to the rear of the house. On this floor you also find another living-room, as well as the dining-room, a study and a service-bathroom. A further living space is provided by the charming tower-room, where the superb original fireplace and the terracotta-tiled/wood-beamed ceiling and wooden floors have been eye-catchingly retained. Second floor: The uppermost floor accommodates a vast hall, whose high ceiling features terracotta tiling and wooden beams. Here again the massive old fireplace forms a focal point. In addition, there are six bedrooms, one likewise with fireplace. All are ensuite and some of their private bathrooms incorporate a jacuzzi shower or bathtub. Spectacular top-floor views over the unspoilt surrounding countryside can be enjoyed from this level. To complement the elegant, historical setting, the villa has been furnished throughout with simple but high-quality antique pieces in a variety of traditional styles, featuring lovely natural woods and comfortable plush upholstery. Sat.TV is available in the main halls and under-floor heating is built-in throughout, with the exception of the tower-room, where there are normal radiators. THE GARDEN AND SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT: The villa is set in extensive grounds, which include a delightful olive grove, and as such offers a peaceful haven of retreat. There is ample informal parking space on the gravel forecourt, from where a double flight of stairs proceeds to the first-floor living quarters. One of the property’s most significant assets is its superb rear ‘loggia’, where five graceful, open archways look out on to the relaxing green of the gardens, vineyards and wooded hills beyond. This is undoubtedly the perfect spot to linger over an aperitif or enjoy a leisurely outdoor meal, shaded by the frescoed ceiling. Comfortably upholstered wicker chairs invite you to relax and unwind, while large, brightly planted terracotta tubs adorn the surroundings, from where a staircase leads down directly into the gardens. Screened by low shrubs, trees and exotic pot-plants, the former Renaissance ‘fish-pond’, easily accessible from these stairs, has been transformed into a truly aristocratic swimming pool, set in a sheltered, yet suntrap position. Here, sunbeds tempt you to take it easy between dips in the refreshing waters of the pool. In one corner of the grounds, on a raised lawn terrace to the rear of the villa, lies a second, organically curvaceous pool, in natural stone.This too boasts a wonderful, uninterrupted backdrop of wooded hills and is likewise screened by hedges, so that poolside sunbathers are guaranteed undisturbed privacy. To one side of the villa, an extensive gravel terrace, bordered by lawns and shaded by tall trees and a pergola covered by a profusely rambling grapevine, is appointed with tables, chairs and large cream sunshades, thereby offering another idyllic venue for outdoor recreation. HISTORY: The site of the present-day villa has been inhabited since the 5-6th century, as testified by the remains of a tower dating back to the Lombard period. In the 10-11th centuries, a further tower was added, surrounded by various other outer buildings. The modern-day villa, however, owes its appearance to the 15-16th centuries, when it was extensively renovated, in preparation for the sumptuous wedding between members of the Mansi and Menocchi families, two of the wealthiest and most influential noble dynasties in Lucca. In subsequent years, the villa was converted into a monastery, where, during the 18th century, there resided many illustrious names, including the prior Barsocchini, an internationally celebrated writer on the Middle Ages.
