Israel Mission to the UN Agencies in Rome

We hosted a special webinar today. It was a fantastic example of what’s possible when international organizations and Israeli industry join hands.

We extend our thanks to **Mr. Anthony Bennett** and **Mr. Paul Kiernan** from for shedding light on the opportunities ahead. Thanks also to our Israeli partners—the **Israeli Export Institute** and the **Kibbutzim Industry Association**—for their help and support.

The event focused on the 2024 Investment Forum (October 15-17, Rome), part of FAO's "Hand in Hand" initiative, where developing countries will present opportunities in agriculture and food production to global investors. With international financing backing these initiatives, Israeli innovative companies in water and agriculture have a prime opportunity to get involved.

Humanitarian aid continues to enter Gaza.
150 tons of animal food, donated by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) were transferred to the Gaza Strip.

During Hamas’ devastating terror attack of October 7, Dr. Shoshan Haran - Founder and President of the NGO 'Fair Planet’ - was kidnapped from her home in Kibbutz Be’eri, along with 9 members of her family. They have been held captive in Gaza since.

Dr. Haran, who has devoted her life to promote food security in developing countries, participated actively in meetings and discussions at the ’s International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources in 2019.

Shoshan and her brother were born in Be'eri; their father Avraham fled N**i Germany in the 1930s and founded the kibbutz.

After the 2021 summit, the Food System Summit is once again in Rome at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Ambassadors and exponents from all over the world will debate topics such as the relationship between climate change and food systems and malnutrition.

Israel will be represented by Ambassador Rubinstein, together with the National Convener and National Chief Scientist from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Agriculture.

The Opening Ceremony was held today at the presence of the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, and the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres.

The 43rd Conference underway since yesterday and continuing until Friday, focuses on crucial decisions for our food systems!

Today, the re-election of DG QU Dongyu took place with overwhelming support. In response to the election results, Israel's ambassador to the UN organizations in Rome, Yael Rubinshtein, expressed her warm congratulations to DG QU Dongyu. She commended his dedication and leadership and expressed her confidence in his ability to guide FAO toward greater achievements.

A green empire in the Israeli desert🌵

On this World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, let's celebrate the visionary ✨Arava ✨ community.

Amidst the arid conditions of the desert, these farmers defied the odds and today dominate Israel's market with an astounding 65% share of fresh vegetable exports (most of them organic!) and 13% of flower exports🌷

Their success is no illusion but a result of their great dedication to rigorous water and energy conservation practices, coupled with innovative resource and waste reuse.

The Arava demonstrates that resilience and sustainability can thrive even in the harshest environments! 🏆
