On 20 June 2026, CasermArcheologica 2.0 opens “Shared Spaces. Art, Community, Migration and Memories in Motion”, the new exhibition by Virginia Ryan, an Australian artist who has been developing international research across Europe, Africa, India and Latin America for over forty years.

Through textiles, installations, photographs, and participatory projects, Virginia Ryan transforms listening and shared experience into artistic practice, building a space capable of welcoming memories, migrations, identities, and relationships.

The exhibition brings together four important projects carried out between Italy, West Africa and the Mediterranean and invites the public to reflect on the meaning of hospitality, belonging and coexistence in a world undergoing constant movement and transformation.

Il 20 giugno 2026 inaugura “Spazi Condivisi. Arte, comunità, migrazioni e memorie in movimento”, la nuova mostra di .ryan1, artista australiana che da oltre quarant'anni sviluppa una ricerca internazionale tra Europa, Africa, India e America Latina.

Attraverso opere tessili, installazioni, fotografie e progetti partecipativi, Virginia Ryan trasforma l’ascolto e l’esperienza condivisa in pratica artistica, costruendo uno spazio capace di accogliere memorie, migrazioni, identità e relazioni.

La mostra riunisce quattro importanti progetti realizzati tra Italia, Africa Occidentale e Mediterraneo e invita il pubblico a riflettere sul significato dell'ospitalità, dell'appartenenza e della convivenza in un mondo attraversato da continui spostamenti e trasformazioni.

⛵ Australia is officially returning to the America’s Cup in Naples!

After more than 25 years, Sydney’s Royal Prince Edward Yacht Club will officially compete in the 38th edition of the America’s Cup, set to take place in Naples in 2027 – bringing one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious sailing events back to Italy.

The Team Australia Challenge will bring together some of the country’s leading sailing talents, including Olympic gold medallist and two-time world sailor of the year Tom Slingsby and three-time America's Cup winner Glenn Ashby.

The excitement is palpable as Australian talent spread around the world unite under the national flag.

"There's a huge sense of excitement around what we're building together, and I'm incredibly proud to be part of the beginning of this new chapter for Australian sailing", said Tom Slingsby.

⛵ L’Australia torna ufficialmente all’America’s Cup!

Dopo oltre 25 anni, il Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club di Sydney parteciperà alla 38ª edizione dell'America’s Cup, che si svolgerà a Napoli nel 2027, riportando in Italia uno degli eventi sportivi più antichi e prestigiosi al mondo.

Il Team Australia Challenge riunirà alcuni dei più importanti talenti della vela australiana, tra cui il campione olimpico Tom Slingsby e il tre volte vincitore dell’America’s Cup Glenn Ashby.

L’emozione cresce, man mano che i talenti australiani nel mondo si riuniscono sotto la bandiera nazionale.

“C’è enorme entusiasmo attorno a ciò che stiamo costruendo insieme e sono incredibilmente orgoglioso di far parte dell’inizio di questo nuovo capitolo della vela australiana,” ha dichiarato Tom Slingsby.

Deputy Head of Mission Siddhartha Chakrabarti recently visited their distribution centre in Rome and had the chance to meet some of the dedicated volunteers who give their time to support the community.

The Australian Embassy is pleased to support Notes of Self, the latest work of Australian choreographer James Batchelor and Collaborators and Collaborators, presented at Arena di Borgo Bello, Perugia.

An intimate and vibrant performance that brings together emotion, imagination and movement, creating new ways for audiences of all ages to engage with dance.

Drawing on the legacy of Ausdruckstanz and Batchelor’s experience in Berlin, Notes of Self invites both young and adult audiences to experience movement as a space for creativity, expression and connection.

This week, together with the Australia Italy Business Association (AIBA), the Embassy hosted the latest AIBA Leadership Event, bringing together key government, industry, and investment leaders to discuss our shared economic future.

It was an honour to hear keynote addresses from Australia’s Ambassador to the EU, Angus Campbell, and Italy’s Minister for Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso.

Thank you to Taylee Lewis (President, AIBA) for leading the brilliant platform, and to our distinguished industry panellists who shared their deep corporate insights.

Stefano Fierro (Country Manager, Goodman Italy) shared vital perspectives on digital infrastructure, focusing on the expansion of data centres and global connectivity. In the energy space, Giuseppe Artizzu (CEO, NHOA Energy) and Sara Edmonson (Head of Global Advocacy, Fortescue) led an impactful discussion on opportunities for modernizing grids, storage, and low-carbon generation. Riccardo Dutto (Global Head Infrastructure & Real Estate, Intesa Sanpaolo) featured strategic viewpoints on capital formation, detailing how we can drive financial services and shared investment platforms.

Hearing directly from these businesses on how the Australia–EU FTA can further accelerate cross-border sustainable investment points to a highly prosperous path ahead. This timely dialogue underscored the massive potential for deeper commercial and strategic engagement between our nations.

Ascoltare direttamente da queste aziende come l'Accordo di libero scambio tra Australia e UE possa ulteriormente accelerare gli investimenti sostenibili transfrontalieri indica un percorso futuro estremamente promettente. Questo tempestivo dialogo ha sottolineato l'enorme potenziale per un maggiore impegno commerciale e strategico tra le nostre nazioni.

Australia and Abruzzo share deep and longstanding ties, strengthened by generations of ItaloAustralian communities and by solidarity shown in times of need.

On 4 June, H.E. Ambassador Cowley attended the ceremony marking the start of restoration works on L’Aquila’s historic Civic Tower. The restoration of this landmark was entirely financed through the donations generously raised by ItaloAustralian communities following the tragic 2009 earthquake.

As L’Aquila prepares to be the Italian Capital of Culture in 2026, this project stands as a lasting symbol of resilience, solidarity and shared heritage between Australia and Italy.

Il 4 giugno l’Ambasciatore Cowley ha partecipato alla cerimonia che ha segnato l’avvio dei lavori di restauro della storica Torre Civica de L’Aquila. Il progetto è stato interamente finanziato dalle generose donazioni raccolte dalla comunità italo-australiane dopo il terremoto del 2009.

Mentre L’Aquila si prepara a diventare Capitale Italiana della Cultura 2026, il recupero di questo importante monumento rappresenta un simbolo duraturo di resilienza, amicizia e patrimonio condiviso tra Australia e Italia.

Australia, New Zealand and our Pacific family have a lot to be proud of with the contributions we make to the multilateral system. At a time of instability and uncertainty, working together is the best way to solve global problems and our regional perspectives are more important than ever.

On 26 May, the Australian and New Zealand Embassy Rome, Italy Embassies celebrated the important efforts of Australians, New Zealanders and Pacific Islanders working across UN and other multilateral agencies in Rome.

Thanks to all who attended for a beautiful evening of conversation and ideas, enriched by David Place’s live music.
