📍【Love and Compassion in the Month of Mary: Offering Taiwan’s Salt and Light in Honor of the Merciful Love of the Blessed Virgin】💖

Last year, Taiwanese sculptor Mr. held the “Love and Peace Special Exhibition” at Taiwan Embassy. During the exhibition, he presented a series of Taiwanese salt sculptures inspired by stories from the Book of Genesis in the Bible. At our National Day Reception, the specially created salt sculpture “ ” was solemnly unveiled.

The exquisite craftsmanship of this salt sculpture of the Blessed Virgin Mary, together with the sacred radiance emanating from Taiwanese sea salt✨, received unanimous praise and deep admiration from visitors.💕

As May is the “ ,” and in order to highlight the merciful spirit of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Embassy specially decided to choose this Marian month to donate this salt sculpture of the Virgin Mary created by a Taiwanese artist to the “Pontifical International Marian Academy” (PAMI), thereby offering Taiwan’s salt and light to Our Lady.

📍【The Marian Academy Solemnly Welcomes the Statue of the Blessed Virgin Through a Mass and Blessing Ceremony】🙏

At 6:00 p.m. on May 28, Ambassador Ho and Madam Ho attended a Mass at the “Basilica di Sant'Antonio in Laterano,” located next to the Marian Academy. The Mass was presided over by the President of the Academy, Fr. Stefano Cecchin, OFM, with the Secretary of the Academy, Fr. Marco Mendonça, OFM, serving as deacon. The Rector of the Basilica, Fr. Juan Isidro Aldana Maldonado, OFM, blessed the statue with holy water.

After the Mass, Ambassador Ho delivered remarks to the faithful in attendance. Following the conclusion of the liturgical ceremony, the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary was solemnly escorted to the collection room of the Pontifical International Marian Academy for display and prayer. The ceremony was solemn and dignified.

📍【The Marian Academy Highly Praises Taiwan’s Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary】👏

During his homily, President Cecchin especially thanked Taiwan for choosing the Month of Mary to donate this deeply meaningful salt sculpture of the Blessed Virgin Mary. President Cecchin noted that he had previously visited Taiwan twice and had personally witnessed the interreligious reverence that Taiwanese people hold toward the Blessed Virgin Mary, which symbolizes the universality of Our Lady’s loving image.

📍【Taiwan’s Humanitarian Spirit Reflects the Love of the Blessed Virgin Mary】🥰

In his remarks during the Mass, Ambassador Ho stated that the Catholic Church has made tremendous contributions to Taiwanese society. He further noted that the spirit of Our Lady beautifully reflects the spirit of “Taiwan Can Help” which is Taiwan’s willingness and actions to spread love in the world. Taiwan’s resilience, generosity, and care for others are deeply Marian values.

During the donation ceremony, Ambassador Ho also shared with the faithful in attendance that, in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Pontifical International Marian Academy, the “St. Cecilia United String Orchestra” 🎻from the Diocese of Taichung will perform at the Basilica on June 16. Everyone is warmly welcome to attend!

After the statue installation ceremony was completed, Ambassador Ho, at the invitation of President Cecchin, expressed devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary by singing two hymns in Mandarin: the “Hail Mary” and the “Our Lady of Lourdes Hymn.” Clergies and sisters present at the ceremony all expressed that their hearts had become more closely united through the love of the Blessed Virgin Mary.💗💗

https://www.mofa.gov.tw/News_Content.aspx?n=95&sms=73&s=122243

📍【AI = Love: The Future Development of AI Should Be “Rooted in Love”】💖

In response to Pope Leo XIV’s emphasis on the ethical implications of artificial intelligence (AI), the event “Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF): AI and the Future of Work,” jointly organized by GCTF partner countries, was successfully held in Rome recently.👍

MOFA press release link
https://www.mofa.gov.tw/News_Content.aspx?n=95&sms=73&s=122243

In his remarks, Ambassador Ho explained the background of the establishment of the GCTF and briefly reviewed its achievements over the past ten years. He also expressed gratitude to the GCTF partner countries and co-organizing institutions for their close cooperation in making this meaningful conference possible.🤝

Ambassador Ho further shared a special reflection: when we place the two letters “AI” together and pronounce them, their sound resembles the word “愛” (ài), meaning “love” in Mandarin. This coincidence offers a meaningful reminder: as we advance in technology, we must never lose sight of the human person—of the dignity inherent in every individual, created and loved by God. ❤️

Ambassador Ho also invites participants to move forward together—with wisdom, responsibility, and a steadfast commitment to ensuring that the future we shape remains centered on human dignity, and guided, always, by love.💖

Love and Care in the Month of Mary: Embassy of the R.O.C. (Taiwan)to the Holy See Honors the Sisters of the Santa Cecilia Institute in Celebration of Mother’s Day

May is the , a season of sharing and gratitude. On May 7, Ambassador and Madam Ho, accompanied by Secretary Wei Wang, visited the Santa Cecilia Institute🏠 managed by the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco (FMA). On behalf of the Taiwan government, Ambassador Ho sponsored computer hardware and training resources to help the vulnerable young girls at the institution enhance their digital skills.

The Santa Cecilia Institute is part of the "Salesian Family" founded by St. John Bosco. The institution provides a warm, family-like environment for girls from disadvantaged backgrounds, training them in independent living skills such as cooking and domestic management, with a steadfast commitment to holistic education✨.

The Sisters serving at the institute have dedicated their youth to their faith, offering their tenderness to the least of our brothers and sisters in need. Like Our Lady, they illuminate the lives of others with a silent love. Among them is a Sister over 80 years old who remains passionately devoted to her mission. With falling on May 10, Ambassador and Madam Ho specially prepared bouquets of roses🌹 to personally present to each of these "Sister-Mothers," honoring their selfless devotion to the students and celebrating the Mother’s Day together.

The Sisters and student representatives expressed their deep gratitude for the love and care from Taiwan, warmly returning the gesture with flower baskets. This heartwarming interaction allowed us to feel a profound bond of friendship and protection that transcends national borders. Furthermore, as May 8 marks the anniversary of the election of , we took concrete action on the eve of the anniversary to respond to the Holy Father’s call to care for the marginalized.

During this Month of Mary and Mother’s Day, we pray that the intercedes for us, wishing all mothers and the many "Sister-Mothers" peace, health, and happiness.
