Grainville School

Yesterday we had Jersey Heritage visit the English lesson of 8x4, for a session exploring Jersey's folklore. This was linked to our current topic, as we have been reading and writing our own twisted fairy tales.

Students were engaged throughout and asked some excellent questions. The dragon of La Hogue Bie was a very popular topic of discussion!

Thank you to Niamh from Jersey Heritage.

What a fantastic week for peer mediation at Grainville School!
Our Year 7 students explored the importance of resolving conflict positively during our Bridging the Gap conference, supported by The Resolution Centre .
Our Year 10 and 11 students played a key role, speaking passionately about peer mediation. Our Year 10 Peer Mediators brought the process to life through role-play, while Sophie delivered a thought-provoking keynote speech with a powerful message:
“We can’t always avoid conflict, but we can always choose kindness.”
A huge well done to everyone involved and a special thank you to The Resolution Centre for helping make the day such a success!

Yesterday our Y10 students visited the Skills Jersey event at Trinity Showground. There were 100s of employers and post 16 providers offering information about the next steps for our students when they leave Grainville in Y11.

Jersey Met is forecasting very strong winds on Thursday evening, continuing through Friday, with heavy rain at times, due to Storm Austen - the first named storm of this season.

Winds will increase from Thursday evening and overnight reaching a peak on Friday morning, remaining very strong and gusty throughout the day.

It is likely that there will be disruption to travel as well as potential damage to trees, infrastructure, and a risk of localised flooding.

A reminder of the huge variety of clubs we have on offer during lunchtime. Mrs van der Niet has enjoyed working with Y8 on the courts organising a social football session.
