Jersey Field Squadron (The Royal Militia Island of Jersey) is the only military presence in Jersey and can trace its Militia roots back to 1337. Its members still practice military skills on the same ground where their forebearers were awarded a unique battle honour fighting alongside regular troops in 1781 at The Battle of Jersey which saw a French invading force defeated. Weโ€™re looking forward to this yearโ€™s Armed Forces Day! ๐Ÿ’‚๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธโš”๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ช

We are proud to announce that the Jersey Field Squadron (Royal Engineers) will be taking part in this yearโ€™s Armed Forces Day celebrations in St Helier on Saturday 27 June.

As Jerseyโ€™s only military unit, the Squadron carries a proud heritage that stretches back centuries. Its roots can be traced to the old Jersey Militia, whose members played a crucial role in defending the Island during the Battle of Jersey in 1781. On that historic day, local forces stood firm to repel a French invasion, cementing a legacy of courage and service that continues today.

Through its connection to the Corps of Royal Engineers, the Squadron shares in a distinguished record of service across major conflicts including both World Wars, as well as more recent operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Royal Engineers have been at the forefront of modern military operations โ€” providing combat engineering, route clearance, bomb disposal, bridge building, infrastructure construction and humanitarian support in some of the most challenging environments around the world.

Today, the Jersey Field Squadron continues that vital role. As Army Reservists, its members balance civilian careers with military training and operational readiness. They provide specialist engineering support to the British Army and stand ready to assist the Island in times of emergency, offering resilience and community support when needed.

Armed Forces Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate this remarkable legacy and to recognise the service and sacrifice of all those who serve and have served.

Join us in St Helier for what promises to be a fantastic FREE public event for the whole community. The day will feature:

โ€ข Military demonstrations and displays
โ€ข Live music and entertainment
โ€ข Interactive activities for all ages
โ€ข Opportunities to meet service personnel past and present

Bring your family and friends, show your support, and help us celebrate our Armed Forces in style. Letโ€™s come together as a community to make this yearโ€™s Armed Forces Day a memorable one.

We look forward to seeing you there! ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ช

โ€˜Tis the season of charitable deeds! ๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿป Squadron members volunteered with The National Trust for Jersey in maintaining hedgerows around Crabbe Ranges. They also showed charity to body and mind with a loaded march along the north coast before a well earned break for the holidays!

Wishing everyone a Happy Christmas! ๐ŸŽ„
