The CCD was established to provide strategic support, coordinate and monitor the transformational change towards a climate resilient society for Jamaica.

The Climate Change Division in Jamaica was founded in 2012 and is housed under the Ministry of Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change. The core strategies of the Climate Change Division are as follows:
1. Coordinate the mainstreaming of climate change adaptation in strategies in policy formulation, development planning and decision-making.
2. Promote the implementation of specific adaptation
