With over 300 employees from 30 public sector facilities completing training in energy management under the Energy Management and Efficiency Programme (EMEP), the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica (PCJ) is increasing expertise at government entities.
The training sessions which were carried out between August 22 – 30, 2019 and involved facilities including schools and hospitals across the island is aimed at safeguarding measures being implemented under EMEP.
Here are highlights from the training workshop held at the Mona Visitors Lodge on August 27, 2019.
It's time to head back to school, and you can continue practicing energy conservation! Use natural light whenever possible and remember to turn off lights before leaving for school.
Don't place your refrigerator near a heat source. This will make it burn more energy to maintain the temperature to keep your food cool. Set up your kitchen for maximum efficiency to conserve energy and save!
Are you done with back to school shopping? Carpool with friends to conserve on energy, plus it may be fun to have company!

The PCJ congratulates Gayle Cricket Club from St. Mary on their big win in the Social Development Commission (SDC) Wray & Nephew National Community T20 Cricket Tournament.
When you overload your washing machine, you put extra strain on your appliance making it work harder and use more energy.
Load an appropriate amount of clothes for the load size to allow for maximum efficiency so that you can conserve and save!
To prevent heat from escaping, which can make your oven work harder and use more energy, use the oven light, and keep the oven door closed until your food’s done. Conserve energy and save!
Did you know you use more electricity when ironing is done daily? An iron consumes as much energy as ten 100 W light bulbs and uses the most energy when it is heating up. To conserve energy and save, iron clothes in large batches.
