As part of the British High Commissionerโ€™s ongoing parish visits across Jamaica, we connected with communities, celebrated local heritage, and experienced the very best of Trelawny ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿค๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ฒ

At Falmouth All Age School, children received school supplies from British High Commission staff and partners, along with a generous donation of football gear from . Thank you for helping to inspire the next generation through sport and opportunity. โšฝโค๏ธ

We also enjoyed a fascinating tour of , a traditional family lunch in the hills of Warsop, and a warm meet-and-greet with returned residents, celebrating the strong ties between Jamaica and the UK.

This week, the British High Commission in Kingston ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ฒ hosted the launch of the PASSAGE, a major initiative led by The National Archives (UK) and funded through a ยฃ1 million grant from the Lloydโ€™s Register Foundation to support new research into the history of transatlantic slavery.

Through PASSAGE, researchers, archivists and institutions across the Caribbean, West Africa and the UK will collaborate to deepen understanding of shared histories, strengthen archival partnerships and improve access to historical records. Jamaican institutions, as well as those in the wider Caribbean and West Africa will receive a significant share of ยฃ450,000 in programme funding (approximately JMD $91 million).

A significant step forward in strengthening efforts to end violence against women and girls. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ฒWe welcome Jamaicaโ€™s partnership in this important global coalition and look forward to continued collaboration to help create safer communities for women and girls.

Jamaica is among eight countries joining a new United Kingdom-led International Coalition to End Violence Against Women and Girls, aimed at strengthening global efforts to ensure women and girls can live free from violence, abuse, and fear. The coalition was launched by the United Kingdom Foreign Secretary, Yvette Cooper, during the recent Global Partnerships Conference in London.
