The STEAM Education in Schools Programme is a three-year initiative (November 2024 β October 2027) developed by the British Council in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information (MoESYI) and the Micro Educational Foundation.
The programme is funded by the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information, the National Education Trust, e-Learning Jamaica Co. Ltd. and the British Council, with additional support provided by the Micro Educational Foundation.
The programme aims to strengthen the skills and competencies of children and young people by integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) concepts throughout Jamaicaβs education system.
Over its three-year duration, the programme seeks to train 10,770 teachers, benefit approximately 328,500 students, and distribute more than 30,000 Micro devices to schools across the island.

Today, the National Education Trust joined the Jamaica Defence Force and United States Southern Command in supporting the JDF Day of Service through a school refurbishment initiative at four institutions across the island.
π¨ποΈ Gaynstead and Clan Carthy High Schools, along with Grove and Rennock Lodge Primary and Infant Schools, benefited from minor maintenance works aimed at enhancing their learning environments. Activities included painting, landscaping π³, groundskeeping πΏ, and repairs to playground equipment π.
