. Thank you to Christel House Jamaica for having us to highlight to your 700 students the theme for International Museum Day 2026 "Museums Uniting a Divided World." We showcased various artefacts from different countries and ethnic groups globally such as: Lebanese, African, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, European, East Indian from the National Collection.

National Museum Jamaica and our Satellite museums and invites everyone in the observance of International Museum Day (IMD) on 18 May 2026, which the International Council of Museums International Council of Museums - ICOM hosts annually. The day will include a free Symposium in Kingston and entry will be free all day to all our museum spaces in Kingston, Montego Bay and Spanish Town.

National Museum Jamaica and The Institute of Jamaica invites you to participate in the observance of International Museum Day (IMD) on 18 May 2026, which the International Council of Museums - ICOM hosts annually.
This year’s theme, “Museums Uniting a Divided World,” explores the vital role museums and other cultural spaces play as bridges across cultural, social, and geopolitical divides. It highlights how museums foster dialogue, inclusion, understanding, and peace, both locally and globally, while also marking ICOM’s 80th.
All are welcome to attend this face-to-face presentation.

The People's Museum of Craft and Technology in Spanish Town, was officially opened to the public in 1962, and was called the Jamaica Folk Museum. The building that houses the museum was part of the Old King's House livery and stables. The museum features many objects that were made and used by persons in Post Emancipation Jamaica. The Museum was subsequently renamed the People's Museum of Craft and Technology in 1979.
